Anyone frequent the eBay discussion and chat boards?

Question
If you do, maybe you can help me out, I'm confused.. Why are some called 'chat boards' and some called 'discussion boards' - they both look the same to me.. what's the difference?

Answer
As I understand it, "chat boards" are the ones that only hold 200 or so posts, and after a post has scrolled off the page, it's gone. You have to keep hitting the refresh button to read new posts as they come in. The posts read from bottom-to-top (in other words, new posts show up on the top and they scroll down as more posts come in).
"Discussion boards" are like these here on here.
Again, that's as I understand it. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif

Answer
The chat boards are sort of a cross between a bulletin board and live chat.
The discussion boards are threaded and the threads tend to stay on the topic(thinking mainly of the specific board, such as antiques or collectibles).
The discussion boards came after the chat boards for those people who wanted to ask specific questions and the questions would remain available for an extended period of time. That wasn't possible on the chat boards where the posts scroll off the page when they reach the bottom.

Answer
ok, thanks.... The 'chat' boards are the ones I use to use then... http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
