Question
I know this topic comes up quite often around holidays. But as this holiday marks the unoffical 'beginning of summer' and thus less time at the old computer for a lot of ebaY buyers, what are your plans to list this week with holiday Monday and thus a long vacation weekend.
Answer
I was thinking about this one myself ...
I have the CLUB99 special event that starts that weekend, so I have to list for that ... and while I doubt I'll see much action the first couple days, hopefully mid week to the following weekend things will pick up.
But from the looks of things so far, it's gonna be a lonnnnnng summer http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_frown.gif
So other than maybe a few new store offerins, I don't think I'll be listing at all this week.
Answer
Between Australian and USA public holiday's I would never list if I allowed for them all. I have learned to ignore most of them (and have already started listing for next Sunday). They don't usually "seem" to have an effect on sales, but I am more careful with the major ones which cause distractions.
All that said, I would love to see a listing of all of the American National holidays....
Kind Regards, Kevin
Answer
Hey Kevin,
You may want to 'google' it to see, but here's one I found for you:
USA National Holidays
Answer
what, Good Friday isn't a national holiday?

Gabs,
I have never had Good Friday off, while I think it is a big day from a religious stand point, it does not effect day to day life here in the states as far as work is concerned in my opinion. The industry I am in probably does not have as much time off as say governement workers however.
Kevin,
In my opinion the major days that I may compensate listings for are
Labor Day,
July 4th,
Memorial Day,
Thanksgiving,
Christmas.

Yep, I agree with you Kevin. Especially if you also take into account "big" TV and sporting events.
However, I do feel ending over this next weekend is a gamble. I would like to list some this Monday so they close before the end of the month, but I might wait until Tuesday. A lot of people do go to the lakes, vacation etc, BUT if the weather is bad, they might play on the computer http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
Answer
G'day Gabs,
I have seen comments on these boards indicating that American Post Offices are open for half a day on Good Friday.
Down here, along with Christmas, Good Friday is the most reverent of holidays - and Easter is a four day holiday overall.
Cheers, Kevin
Answer
yep, every thing grinds ot a halt here on good Friday but Easter Monday is starting to see a down slide, however, everything government is closed still and they pay their people overtime for that day...the banks are now open Easter Monday. Wow, I didn't know Americans didn't close for Good Friday....learned something new today.
Answer
I don't do anything different for holidays, I list no matter what. What's a holiday in the US may not be one in the rest of the world, and lots of people don't always have plans. At least that's the way I look at it.

Fish Fry business booms that day here. Can't figure out why one day saves a soul. Oh well. I'm gonna take a few days off of ebay till the holiday week is over. I figure ebayer's may need to wait for the next paycheck after a long weekend. Then again, what else am I gonna do with my time?
