Question
My carrier has always done this, but I saw an insert ad (in the May Popular Mechanics of all places), "A Whole New Way To Ship Packages Will Soon Be Arriving At Your Door - Introducing Carrier Pickup." It appears it will be only for priority/express and will be next day and free. Info at usps.com/pickup
Answer
I believe they say that you must have at least one Priority package in the pile and they will take it all.
My postman has always taken anything I give him anyway.
Answer
Can't wait to keep them busy. i can reach that no problem.
Answer
My carrier always has taken everything I left. However, I had a few priority flat rate envelopes get returned a few weeks later because they didn't have the special stamp that they were handed to a postie. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_mad.gif so since I have to drop off the heavier packages anyway I take them all.
Its soooo stupid, I hate driving to the post office & its only about 5 minutes away. I've even walked home from it when my car wouldn't start.
Answer
Wow! Thanks for posting this.
How do I apply the postage? Do I have to use stamps.com? Do I need a machine?
I've always just had my assistant go the post office. This would be a big time and $$ saver.
Thanks for helping this ignoramous! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif

I looked into this locally and was told by my local PO that pickup was Priority or express only and was only available at commercial addresses in selected communities.
Useless to me.
Answer
This program started earlier this year and more zip codes were added in April.
This is a free pickup for residences. You do not have to be a business. If your zip code isn't listed you can call your local postmaster and tell them you want the free pickup.
As far as I am aware for this service you do need to be a known mailer. This means that you do have to use one of the electronic postage vendors or the U.S. Postal Service Click N Ship program.
