Confusing Ebay bidding sequence -- help!

Question
An auction I was bidding on just ended. The last two bidders were shown as:
Bid Time Amount Bidder
16:25:32 $ 301.03 zapper
16:25:57 301.01 anchor
Why does the smaller & later bid show and why is the winning bid only 2 cents more?
Another question: sometimes the winning bidder is shown twice with the same amount and times. Why?
Thanks for bringing me in from the dark.

Answer
zapper's proxy bid was $ 301.03 and it was placed at 16:25:32
anchor's bid came in 23 seconds later and it was for $301.01
Zapper's bid was higher, so it held.
Hope that helps.
Elaine
And Welcome to here!
Forgot to answer the second part... I think that happens when the top bidder is concerned that he might need a higher proxy and enters it, but it's not needed to win. (But that's just speculation. I have no proof...) Maybe the first proxy was exactly the amount needed to keep the win....?

The smaller bid is shown to let the winner bidder know who is the underbidder. The winning bid differential is only 2 cents because prior to these two bids, the current price was at least one increment below the underbid of $301.01 - otherwise, the $301.03 bid would not be accepted.

The winning bidder placed multiple bids. This can be due to placing a higher bid subsequent to initial bid. Sometimes, one can be sniping with multiple services and thus placement of the same bid multiple times.
