Store listings at the bottom of the search pages

Question
I have some serious mixed emotions here. As a store seller I love that my store is getting more promotions.
BUT... Just today I researched a book to see if it was worth listing. There were three similar books listed at reasonable amounts (with no bids) but just under those (no, I didn't have to scroll down to see them) was 3 store listings for the same book at much lower prices than the auctions.
Gee wonder which will sale?
Just not sure how I feel about the situation.

Answer
I have mixed emotions, too, Fullhouse2000.
I feel that as an auction lister I'm paying at least 35 cents to list the item, and it doesn't seem right that someone who paid only 2 or 3 cents gets just as much exposure as my item. (I know you have to factor the montly store cost in there, but that's not my issue).
As a store owner, I'm delighted when one of my items shows up like that because I feel I'm getting major bang for my pennies.
There were several books I decided not to list yesterday just because of this situation. Books that should have been listable just weren't competitive as auctions against a low-ball store listing, and I wasn't interested in listing them at a fixed price to meet or beat the store listings. I parked them on a fixed-price site instead.
Dunno...I'm doing some major flip-flopping on the stores issue.

Answer
Well I have to say my store sales have been tremendous this week. My strategy for the store on books that did not get bids via auctions is I raise the price and then put it into my store. I have to say though I don't deal much in the way of common books, many of mine would be the only one you would find on eBay.
But I can see how the penny, 99¢ sellers are going to once again depress the market.
Also remember, those lower priced books might not be in as good condition and the shipping charges might be outrageous.
Then again there are always the nut cases that just "do eBay" and don't care they aren't making any money at it.

And just wait until all the half.com books migrate over to ebay stores. It won't make any sense at all to list books on auction.
I think this would be better if store items showed up only if there were NONE of the same items on the main site.

eventually this will balance out, once stores start selling stuff and people start raising the prices in stores, then the auction prices will look good and then maybe, just maybe two people will HAVE to have something and bango a bidding war....
cool dream huh????
Ebay is in a growing phase right now that is a very important move...
and remember you can't have it both ways. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
