Question
When logging into Ink Frog, i am being directed to the following page
http://toad1.inkfrog.com/super/auth_token.php
It is asking me to log into my ebay account to verify my password to update my "token" password.
Does anyone know about this alleged new rule ebay have with third party providers, or is this a clever con by scammers?
Answer
Be careful, might be a trojan or something
I don't have to do it from Vendio
as a matter of fact, we no longer have to log in to ebay from vendio like we used to have to do.....ebay does not want third parties to log in
check ink frogs announcements to see if they have one up there, then drop ink frog a line...
OR...
just wait for the computor geeks to get here, they'll tell you straight up, and faster and more efficiently than anyone ca.....our geeks are the best geeks!!!! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

By Ina Steiner
AuctionBytes.com
February 13, 2004
eBay is rolling out a new program so third-party developers do not have to collect and store eBay member passwords. Under the existing system, eBay requires developers to adhere to stringent restrictions in how they store data about eBay members, requiring them to encrypt user names and passwords for security reasons. eBay's new Authentication and Authorization Program will use "tokens," similar to Microsoft's Passport system.
Under the new system, eBay members who sign up for a third-party service from an eBay-certified developer will be taken to the eBay sign-in page. eBay will then send a token to the vendor to confirm the user is who she says she is.
The new "Auth Auth" program is easier for developers, according to Debbie Brackeen, director of the eBay Developers Program. New developers are required to adopt the token system, and eventually all developers will rollover to the new system. Some third-party services continue to "scrape" eBay data rather than joining the developers program, including sniping services. Brackeen did not say whether the new token program would affect those companies, saying scraping is against eBay's policies.... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Answer
This was announced at the last eBay Live conference. Something about developers not needing your eBay password. Not sure how this really works. Wonder if this will impact the sniping softwares.
Answer
Here's the announcement from Vendio:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>IMPORTANT! Changes to eBay access and your account information!
eBay has requested we change how we access their site when submitting or updating items on your behalf. For each eBay account, we will now be generating a "token" or key that identifies you to eBay. eBay stores one part of this unique code, and we store the other on your behalf. This token will then be used when we submit your items or gather status on them.
For existing users, THERE IS NO ACTION REQUIRED. We'll generate and transmit the tokens for your accounts automatically, and you should therefore experience no disruption in service. We have been currently employing this method of access for all new account registrations for some time now and expect all existing users to be converted during the month of April.
However, a user who changes his or her eBay account information (userID and/or password) after a token is created will be required to log-in to an eBay page linked from Vendio to confirm his or her identity. Once confirmed, eBay will generate a new unique token and securely pass it to Vendio. You MUST complete this action at Vendio after an eBay account change, or we will be unable to communicate with eBay on your behalf - listings will not be submitted, and status on existing items can not be gathered.
Please let us know if you experience any issues related to this new eBay access over the coming weeks. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
