Question
Hello all, and thanks in advance for what I hope is a simple error on my part. I haven't listed anything to sell on Ebay since last year, so my dilemma may be due to changes they've made.
I directed my son last night as he listed a knife he wanted to sell. He seemed to do everything as per my directions, but none of the HTML is working in the description. The paragraph breaks and the image addresses simply appear in the description.
I've included the URL below, and hopefully one of you can point out to me what I've done wrong, so that I can fix it as quickly as possible.
Knife
Thanks again,
Lane
Answer
If you are using SYI 2, when you get to the page where the description goes, you will see a tab that indicates you are using your own HTML coding. Click on that and it should then accept all your coding.
Answer
Thank you, that tab would account for the description appearring as it does. I don't recall ever seeing it before, and my son wouldn't have been looking for it. I'll probably notify the current bidder, end the auction and relist it, as I don't see any way of changing the HTML settings from the Revise Your Listing page.
Thanks again,
Lane
Answer
It is a new change this week, Lane.
The little hint that I got in the adjacent forum, if you have a problem with the form adding a line when you hit "enter", hold down the shift key at the same time and it will take you onto the next line. On the "Standard" page, this stops you breaking your description into unwanted extra paragraphs. (Thanks to Laura / Loveofpast for this tip).
Cheers, Kevin
Answer
Appreciate the help and passing on the hints, Kevin. I've been too busy with RL auctions to notice any Ebay changes (til it was too late, of course!). And it would happen on an auction that my son (15) listed, with my help.
He just got the knife last week, and really wanted to keep it for his collection. But he also just found out how much it was going to cost to rebuild his four-wheeler.
Then he saw this auction and decided he would try to sell his knife to help pay for the repairs.
We live out in the country, and he decided he'd rather ride his four-wheeler and keep the knife and walk.
Actually I was surprised that Ebay would allow knives like this to be sold, (And not sell BB guns) but maybe I'm looking for logic in the wrong places.
Thanks again,
Lane
