NEED Opinions on an Ebay Transaction WILD

Question
Well I told myself this new year I would not get caught up in people that irritated me and let them go. Manifest my dreams you know. Fix my own financial problems etc etc. But I bought items from this seller on ebay. All items were a total shipping weight of about 1 lb combined. Trouble is I won the auctions that all started at .01 for just about that. .06 on one. .01 on another maybe .20 on another and .02 on another. Which was great. But when I got my invoice I was billed $38.90 to ship my items. More than stated amount in auctions. I read the auction and at the time the shipping on the items were. $4.95 for the first item and $3.95 for any additional wins. Fine I understand that. But... I wrote to the seller and said could you combine my items and ship them together and give me a better price on the shipping. I get an email back. They will ship for $29. $30 something total. The total shipping on the box parcel post was like $3.30 or $3. and some cents. I paid even though the email stated that the shipping was going to be $29 take it or leave it BECAUSE the sellers said "what did I think I have to pay for those tops.......01 cents? That he had to make something on the tops. Okay so I can't afford to back out and get negs so I pay him. I really can't afford it I am behind in the mortgage after Christmas and having 5 kids and really need to keep my feedback good. So I write Ebay and they say that the Seller is wrong. This is Fee Evasion and want the email sent to them. Which I told them I couldn't because they would know it was me. This person has been selling like this (at .01 cent auctions for new merchandice) for over 2 months that I know of offering and having many auctions end at .01 cents. Many. Not my fault that he lists them for .01 cents. Okay my dilemma..... I still couldn't live with paying someone $25 EXTRA of my hard earned cash because they didn't like my bid amount. SO......I did something awful I decided to bid on more items under my buying id. And yup I won two more at .01 and yup instead of the amount I should pay. $5.95 and and $4.77 for the next item (They raised their shipping prices) they invoice me for $14.90. So I write and say there is a mistake. And I get the same type ****ty email saying I only paid .01 cents and live with it and I can now pay just the $10.72 for shipping.
This still means I am paying $7 beyond what the actual shipping is to put two tiny items in a box that weigh less then a pound. $10.72 instead of the parcel post (which they ship or even priority which would be $3.85). Okay here is the question. How would you feel about this and what would you do. I don't have $35 to just give someone because they don't want to follow rules. Or don't like what their items end up for the keep selling them. They have no one else complaining about this and we all know why!! Sorry this was long.

Answer
I think that if the shipping prices were stated in the auction, and you decided to bid anyway, you pay that shipping price.
Agreed, it is way way too much if its a one lb package.
I dont understand why you bid even further if there was such a problem with the first batch. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_confused.gif

Answer
If the cost of shipping (fixed flat rate) was described in their auctions......... and you couldn't afford to pay it. Then you should have never bid.
Any questions concerning combined shipping should have been addressed to the seller, before you bid. If he said "no" to combined shipping and you couldn't afford to pay the total shipping, then you should have never bid.
If you are behind on your mortagage after christmas, because you have 5 kids.. budget better.. and stop bidding on ebay unless it's a necessity that you can't get anywhere else or is much cheaper than local (including shipping)
If you don't have the $ to pay and play, than you shouldn't... or maybe you need to spend it on a budgeting software such as Quicken, or perhaps buy a calculator so you can add up all those misc shipping charges that were stated in the auction descriptions.
Sorry to be so cold, but I hate whining.

Answer
My concern isn't the second auction I agree to pay by the terms. My question was more about the first bactch I bought and charging someone $38.90 to ship $3.30 cent package. They reduced the shipping but only to $29 in shipping. Is this how you run your businesses am I the one looking at this wrong that is why I asked I am not trying to whin sorry I hate that too but is it okay to try to sell your items by coaxing people to bid to soak them on shipping? Sorry I wrote.

Answer
jlb, your post is a little hard to calculate.
How many auctions did you win?
What were the ending bids?
How much was shipping stated for each item?
What is the total you came up with based on the auction lisitng of item + shipping?
How does it differ from what the email to you states?
I've tried twice to calcualte it myself but the info you gave seems sporadic. You say that he is charging you MORE for shipping than the auction states, but seem to be dealing with him/her anyway?
Sorry about the financial situation, it gets to all of us from time to time, but we do our best to pay our debts and make ends meet.

So you're saying you got ripped off, because the seller stated, clearly, in their auctions, how much shipping was and you failed to do the calculations? How is that the seller's fault?
Don't get me wrong, I charge shipping and sometimes a tish extra, depending on the item... but in my book, as long as shipping is clearly stated, there's no room to b*tch about the cost.................... AFTER the fact.
If you do not like the final price of the item, do not bid. There's just no excuse if you knew everything up front, which, apparently you did.

Answer
I guess a few of you are confused. This seller tried to invoice me the first time for MUCH more than stated in the auctions. I should have paid $20.09 shipping for the first 5 I won. The actual shipping he paid $3.30. He invoiced me (changed the invoice amount to $38.90). When I brought it to his attention I got the email and a reduce amount of $29. Which was still more but I PAID it because I didn't want to back out. I WAS MAD sorry I am whinning I was. The dumb thing I did was bid again on his auctions. He has nice stuff but I wanted to see for myself if this was his practice or was I a sole person getting shammed. I shouldn't have bid again but I did. I did it under a different id. HE AGAIN said Ebay made a mistake on his invoice. He invoiced me $14.90 in shipping. It should have been the $10.72 (which is still too much but that is the auction price and for two items I think it is okay) but when you buy 5 items from one seller and they are going to be shipped together for $3.30 asking $29 is just a scam. Sorry about all this I just wanted opinions and I got them I guess truly truly sorry.

Answer
This seller, if I understand jlbjlb correctly, charged $29 for shipping several items (discounted from about $38 after a complaint) and then graciously shipped it all Parcel Post in one box; for which they paid $3 and change. Fee Avoidance, anyone?

Answer
If the invoice price was at first $18 more than the stated price, and the final invoice price still $9 more than stated in the auctions, I wouldn't have paid at all. Was there any notice of additional Handling Fees stated anywhere?
And I sure wouldn't have bid on any more of his auctions.
What is his feedback?

That's hardly fee avoidance.
I'm not exactly sure what it is you're mad about? Is it the large quoted shipping costs? Or is it that there was a mistake on the original invoices and you wrote back to get it corrected? (which I can see if the seller has it set up incorrectly and isn't sure how to set it up right, for combined shipping).
Meya's right, if you were quoted incorrectly, don't pay. (ie: the total, from what is stated in the auction, should be 10.95 and you're being charged 18.95) That's a no brainer. But if it's because you don't like how he "combines shipping" Tough nuggies.. shoulda asked first.. and if you didn't like it then, you shouldn't have bid.
