On December 24th, I attempted to make a purchase with my paypal debit card at a quickie mart. Supposedly their credit card machine lost power in the middle of the transaction. In order to take my groceries with me, they wanted me to write down my name, debit card number, and expiration date and leave it with them, and they would complete the transaction later. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I left my groceries there, and purchased nothing. Tonite I logged into my paypal account and see a $6.53 charge from this quickie mart, but I never completed a transaction there, nor took any goods from the premises.
Who do I need to go after for my money? Paypal, or the quickie mart?

I would go to the quickie mart and explain it to the manager.
Take a copy of where you had been charged, and explain what happened.
They might do a customer satisfaction refund.
If that doesn't work than I would contact PayPal.
How did they get your number if you didn't give it to them?

Apparently the transaction got a good start before the machine lost power, just not enuff juice to print a receipt for me to sign??? Hell, I dunno??

Yeah, I would just explain what happened.
If you read the other thread about crack than you'd know my sister has a quickie mart type store, and they would do a customer satisfaction refund, and I know the store will know about the outage so hopefully they will understand.

I was double charged by a merchant in a similar situation. Paypal will tell you to go to the merchant and have them process a credit for the duplicate charge.

The transaction shows as PENDING or as COMPLETED?
If Pending, it should drop off on its own within 10 days because the transaction wasn't completed on the merchant's end...
