Anyone know what the url looks like if one does not have a domain name? Can anyone post a sample for a jpeg stored on a root directory?

Take out /images/tn/ and you have the root. I have to admit it took several tries figuring out exactly what the web address was supposed. And I consider myself a system administrator! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_confused.gif

Thanks - my problem was I try to incorporate the FTP username as part of the url. I thought that's why we had to set up a FTP username. Guess that is only for FTP login only.

Commentary, I couldn't get my pics to work when I had them in folders so I took them out and now I just FTP them to the site. No folders, no directories, no nothing. Of course I don't have a clue what I'm doing but it seems to work for me. It took so long to figure out how to get the pictures to show up that I wouldn't ever try to use it for a real web site. Just too convoluted for me and their customer service stinks.

Commentary, it's been so long since I first started using 1&1 that I have forgotten exactly what I did. I think I created an images directory on 1&1 and had a folder of pics on my desktop but I'm not sure. What I AM sure of is that whatever I did, it didn't work....LOL

If you use ws_ftp, just create the dir on the 1&1 side. Then change to that dir and upload. You should have no problem.
Also, I think filenames are case sensitive. So make sure you have the right case. I perfer to work with everything in lowercase letters to avoid problems.

I can upload, I can see them... half the time others cannot.

I got the number using the FTP information.
