Paypal problem..

Question
Ok I put this here since when I placed it in the correct forum, a forum that seems to be absolutely dead, it has gotten no response.
I've got a big problem that won't go away and I believe, obviously biased, the limitation is unjust.
To briefly describe the several month-old situation, for a reason I cannot remember, I had a friend of mine as a gift address on my account. Now it turns out through a bunch of charge-backs his account is like over $1000 in deficit. Paypal has limited my account access and repeatidly tell me it is MY account and it is ME who owes them the money when I have +$300 tied up in my unfortunately limited account.. repeatidly after uncountable times reiterating in a vast number of words that it the culprit account is not at all mine. It would seem they are trying to hold my money until I go off and completely forget about it. Now someone tell me, am I at wrong here? What in the world do I need to do to get my $300?
TIA for help, Pete

Answer
It would probably easier to get your friend to pay you the $300, than it would to get the money from PayPal. That way the chargebacks become your friend's problem (as it should be) and not yours.

Answer
HI
I am just trying to clarify.
Friend has an account
You have a different account
at some point you have his address on your account.
His account goes in the hole
Your account is limited by paypal.
Is that right or did I get confused?

So if I am understanding this, it is your account and you put your friend's email address on it. Now the friend's email address money is in deficit and you are upset because paypal is restricting your account?
It seems to me you should be upset at your friend and not paypal?

Answer
what fullhouse2000 said is correct. I should have been more clear but that's just about as clear as they've been with me.
The problem remains that I have to find a way around using paypal, which everyone wants and expects to use for payments. I cannot get another account using my new bank account or they'll probably limit or cease that account too. For some reason I just don't find it fair.

Answer
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Welcome to Paypal hell! Unless you pay them the full amount, it will be turned over to collections and will appear on your credit report!
They stole $1,600 from me. Another person I know (used to work for me) had a $0 balance in her account when they screwed up and claimed she owes $455 for a chargeback that she already paid. This put her account into -$455 deficit. She refunded the buyer for a UPS damage item with a money order because she didn't have a balance in Paypal account (her mistake). Paypal said no dice, because she can't prove it. Buyer claimed no refund was received and got his money back from Paypal. Weeks of hassling back and forth, they said "Final answer: pay or to collections". She didn't have the money, they sent to collections and is now on her credit report.
Anyone still using Paypal deserves what they get. Once they screw up, they are the accuser, judge, jury and executioner. They don't give a rats a$$ about anything except profits.

Answer
