Question
They changed catagories around in eBay motors AGAIN. No anouncment, no warning, they just changed a bunch of catagories. I started to list some things today and discovered this. A number of items I have listed where placed (unknown to me) in catagories that make no sense. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif

Answer
The reason eBay adds more categories is because it's forcing most of us to list many items in two different categories because not everything falls into a nice clean pigeonhole.
In the old days I used to get buyers who were just browsing for a 17" monitor and they spotted my 20" monitors and bid on them because for a few dollars more they got a larger monitor. Now they have monitors in so many different categories that I was forced to list my 20" in both the 17" and 20" listings.
How many of us go to a store for a specific item. Most of us shop and browse and look at many before we decide on one. Very few of us go to a store and say "I'm buying a burgundy shirt with button down collar and double needle stiching and as soon as I pay for it I'm leaving the store".
Answer
They took computer games out of the Computer/Software category and put them in the Electronics/Video Games category. Geez, what pinheads.
Answer

You might be surprised. The people who browse by catagories are people who are buying to re-sell, and they are not looking for specific items, they are looking for "deals".
30 to 40% of my sales are to "dealers" who are buying off eBay and selling to a "local" market.

Answer
Microbes,
I am sure a percentage do use catagories.
With that said, I have never talked to them. "my unofficial" poles have found that MY buyers search by keyword, and/or seller.
I buy on ebay for resale, I have keywords, and seller searches saved.
Catagories, wouldn't want to go there http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif
Thanks for the headsup, I hadn't run into this Latest batch of changes.
Answer
I was wondering that today when I noticed that somewhere along the line the collectibles/animals/cat categories changed and what I was relisting was in a different category than when I listed it originally.
Purrsonally I almost never shop by category at that level.
Sometimes I might go to "books", for example, and start a search there but I figure the subcategories are so tiny and so confusing that if I limited myself to using one of those I'd miss all kinds of things.
