Question
Did you know about the limit of 5 emails a day per user for the "Ask seller a question" function? Someone just posted this info on the Auction Listing Board - she was not allowed to send a 6th "ask seller a question" email. (this is a TOTAL number, not per seller)
Here's the automated response she received when she tried the "ask seller a question" link after sending 5 various emails to 5 different sellers on the same day:
"You have exceeded your 5 emails for today, please try again tomorrow".
No one, including myself, has been able to find any info about this 5 email limit. We don't know if it only applies to buyers with a low feedback number or if it applies to everyone. Either way, I think 5 is too low of a number.
Has anyone recently sent more than 5 "ask seller a question" emails in one day?

I knew there was a limit, but do not remember anywhere stating it was 5. 5 is too low if you are a busy buyer.
Answer
Hi Blanche, Seems like we had a thread about that quite a while ago ...I think it was when they changed the email rules (it escapes me as to how long that's actually been).

Pretty sure this is the answer, but no idea where that info is on the ebay site.

Methinks it's time for an email campaign from buyers! Where is the best place to launch a campaign against eBay from a buyer who is discriminating and wants ALL the facts before bidding? Or don't they care? If I was still selling, I'd sure be complaining, too!! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_mad.gif

This is so stupid...I can't think of a single legitimate reason to create such a limit! Maybe no more than X questions from one buyer to one seller, but ALL questions limited?
I just sent out four questions to sellers myself. Lucky for me, I wasn't planning on doing more searches this evening. This sucks.

The only restriction I can find about the "Ask Seller A Question" function is you must be a registered eBay user. I can't find anything about a 5 day limit. I remember something about a zero feedback user not being able to use the "Contact A Member" form but that's the only restriction I recall. This is making me CRAZY! How is it possible for there to be no info about this 5 day limit on eBay's site?

Probably came from sellers getting spammed with the "ask a seller a question" link...

Blondie, I believe that's true but a limit of 5 is going to have a serious impact on buyers feeling comfortable purchasing merchandise on eBay. We always tell the buyer to please ask questions BEFORE they bid but now they can only ask 5 questions a day? To me, this is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

So once again in the attempt to "fix" something, they don't consult with anyone who could/would tell them that in order to limit email addy gathering maybe 20 would be a more reasonable #. No, they gotta set it at 5?
Answer
Five doesn't even begin to approach the point where it would appear to be spamming. I'd say if this is the problem, a more reasonable limit would be at least 15 or more.
