Question
This morning I sent a refund to a customer whos item arrived damaged. On my acct., it is showing the payment but also an echeck had been sent as well. I called paypal and they said they cannot cancel the echeck. What are my options? Its for a fairly large amt of money (to me anyways), that I cant afford to pay twice. Can the seller cancel the echeck payment on her end? Im not seeing anything on my end where I can. Paypal said they cannot do anything...ugh...Im in a hurry because my customer is going to be leaving out of the country today I believe..Thanks

Answer
The customer can always refund any payments.
However, I am not sure about your post. Did you request two payments from PayPal? Are you sure the echeck is not just one payment, one indicate pending and one indicate clearance.
Also, was the original customer payment a PayPal?
Answer
Yes, original customer sent paypal. I know the echeck is on there twice. But it is also showing the quasi cash payment as being sent..

I didnt do the "refund" thingie, cause she bough 2 items. It is actually a partial refund, for the one item that was damaged.

Answer
Look at the balance to the right of the transactions.
Did your PayPal balance fall on both transactions or was it unchange on one?
Also, refunds of PayPal payments should always be via that transaction from the customer payment. Helps to provide more protection on chargebacks and reduce the PayPal fee both ways.
Answer
The echeck has not been taken out yet, because it has to clear with my bank. The other payment has been taken out. I was going to do the "refund" button, but it only gave me the option of refunding her entire purchase price, I couldn't change it to the amt she was being sent.

I've written her to see if she can try & cancel the echeck on her end. But from what paypal says, an echeck cannot be canceled, that the $ will instead go to your paypal acct..wtf

Answer
I understand regarding the amount to be refunded.
Usually, ask the customer to PayPal you again the net amount. Then refund the whole first transaction back. If customer complains, try to explain that is the best method since no PayPal fee to the customer.
Regarding the two payments, the customer should be able to refund the first payment back to you. I am not sure how you send the refund back twice. Were both transactions echecks?
Also, can you call PayPal and see if they can cancel the echeck request since it has not clear yet?
Answer
I called paypal, and she said they cannot do anything. All I did, was send her partial refund quasi cash. Then when I went to check my acct, it showed 2 payments made to her. And I received 2 emails saying I made 2 payments. One being an echeck. Ive been trying to find the page on Ebay on how to pull up her contact info, and Im totally lost on where the page is..

I seem to remember contact info available where you file for NPB. There is a place for contact info in one of the steps. Not 100% sure.
Go to eBay site map and look down the middle column. Look for the link on filing for FVF credit.
