How would you respond to this email?

Question
I sold an item last month, and accidentally shipped the wrong thing. The buyer contacted me, I sent the correct item and asked her to refuse the shipment on the original package. I received the returned package yesterday. So far, so good.
BUT, I've got this email I received a few days ago, from the same customer:

quote:
> I sent out the item today. Sorry haven't had time to get to the post office. I didn't have to pay to ship it back to you. Please reimeburse me when you receive the package! Either my pay pal account (which I'm not sure ifit's working right) or My mailing address is...

I sent the correct item, she says she didn't have to pay to ship the original wrong item back. What is it she wants reimbursement for???? I'm confused! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_confused.gif
I've tried to compose an email that asks "WTH do I need to reimburse you for?" in a tactful manner, but brain fog has gotten the better of me and I can't figure out just how to word it.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Pat

Answer
I think she's trying to say "You shouldn't have expected me to pay for postage" as opposed to "The post office did not charge me postage".
I think she wants reimbursement on the cost of the postage to return the item.

Answer
Maybe she is asking you for a refund on her original package because you messed up? Just a thought.

Answer
Maybe she miss typed and did have to pay shipping. I'd wait and see the package before I did anything else.

Answer
Pat, I would just simply tell her, very nicely, that you are sorry but you are rather confused, and could she possibly clarify. Ask her how much the charges are that she would like to be reimbursed for, and for which package.
She might be totally mixed up, but at least ask kindly, without getting her back up. At least that is what I would do.

gas-a-lot, short and sweet. I like it!
CowPrincess, I really don't think the PO did charge her for postage...as far as I can tell by looking at the package, she refused delivery twice, then it was returned to me. In fact, my mail carrier was complaining yesterday about having to scan the DC thingy because she says it was never delivered and shouldn't be scanned. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_confused.gif I can't see any markings on the package that indicate return shipping was paid.
peggysue, I think you're right, and she's as brain fogged as I am. Anyway, I'm going to send her an email asking for clarification, citing early onset senility as my excuse. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif We'll see how it turns out.
Thanks for the help, everyone!

I don't suppose that she has also returned the "correct" package thinking that it was the one that had to be returned?
I would just ask for clarification first, and see if the "brain fog" lifts with communication.
Cheers, Kevin

Answer
Kevin,
I received her email several days ago, but was expecting to see a postmark on the package to show that she had paid return postage even though her email said she didn't. I opened the package, and it is the incorrect item I first sent.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. After reading her email, I suspect I'm not alone. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
