Is someone hacking into my PayPal/eBay account/s??????

Question
Here's a copy of an email I received this evening from PayPal. Account ID#2 is "associated" with Account ID#1.

Subject: PayPal Auction Update

Dear Kathleen Becker,
PayPal logos have been inserted into your new eBay auctions for
ID#2.
If you would like to change logos, add daily updates to another auction
site, or otherwise change your auction preferences, click on the Auction
Accounts link in the Profile subtab of My Account.

You will receive an email every time your new auction listings have been
updated with PayPal logos, or if there is ever a problem with any of your
auctions.
Note: If you use PayPal's Automatic Daily Updating feature with your eBay
auctions, PayPal logos which are scheduled to be added to your auctions on
Thursday or Friday may not appear until late Friday or early Saturday, due
to eBay's scheduled weekly maintenance downtime.
Sincerely,
The PayPal Auction Team

The thing of it is, NEITHER ID has EVER sent an item to auction at eBay! Both ID's were checked at eBay and show no auctions. I can access PayPal via both ID's and neither shows any activity that I can not account for.
So what does this mean? Is someone trying to use a PayPal logo in their auction with MY ID? Is someone trying to hack into my PayPal account and/or my eBay seller accounts???

Hi Kathleen. Can you copy and paste the message source here? If you're using OE, right click on the email subject showing in your inbox, select Details and then Message Source.

Answer
The headers look like the email originated from PayPal. The actual address of the originator is 65.206.228.75 which is smtp2.nix.paypal.com. This is a legitimate address used by PayPal to send email:
senderbase.org

If you have any doubts, the first thing to do is to change your passwords!
We have had an account hacked, no fun, even though it wasn't a 'money' account (AOL).

Kathleen, I just checked the PayPal Board and quite a few people received this email. Some say it's a PayPal glitch and one person said:

quote:
Paypal's COMPUTERS send the paypal logos for any user that has it set in their preferences to automatically insert the logos. If you do not have auctions running when the COMPUTER sends the logo to ebay with your user id nothing happens.

Answer
There's a little option you can turn off or on inside PayPal's admin somewhere which will stop the notification emails that PP has automatically inserted logos into your auctions if they bug you.
