Answer
Here are some helpful suggestions to those working up to a good frenzied panic over "REQUIRED USE OF PAYPAL!!!!!"
1) When you read the eBay announcement quoted above and you come to the word "or" pretend it's not there and don't read anything that comes after it. If there's an alternative to PayPal, that would mean that PayPal was not required after all, and then there would be no reason to panic.
2) Ignore the part about how the whole issue doesn't apply unless some limit is reached. If the whole thing only applies to situations where a bidder is buying like crazy and doesn't affect the vast majority of bidders, then the conspiracy theory of eBay forcing all sales to be paid for with PayPal fails, and such a thought is heresy.
3) If you've ever *****ed about lousy rotten NPB's and bidder's who just don't take the binding nature of a bid seriously, and your current panic over an attempt to remedy that problem causes you any twinge of hypocrisy, quell that feeling immediately, it's irrelevant.
4) Don't dig a little deeper and read this page. That page might make it seem like eBay is talking about using the same kind of safety measures that credit card companies have used for years to detect odd account usage which might indicate fraud, and to prevent unauthorized bidding on stolen or falsely registered accounts. That would make sense, and would not only protect sellers from NPB's and chargebacks, but would also protect everybody from account hijacking. Not only would that reduce panic over this issue, but it might make it harder to panic about chargebacks and account hijacking later on!

Answer
Now, now, I didn't say that I was for or against it. Personally I'm all for it, I confess that this thread was 100% troll http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_cool.gif
But I will admit I didn't see that RD already started a thread on this topic, it must've already been on page 2.

Answer
Wow . . . if you get a troll to admit that it's a troll . . . do you win a prize? I don't believe that I've ever seen that happen before. I think I should get a t-shirt or something.
