Question
OK-when I start selling again, I'm planning on using USPS to print postage, mainly for the scan forms and for the fact it's free(I think lol) except for the postage, of course.
But, having not used the usps site to print postage, can someone tell me if there is anything I need to be aware of? Any limitations? Any chance of stealth postage(main reason for using endicia before, but not selling anywhere near enough to pay for it now)?
I'm perusing the site now but we all know it's lacking
Thanks.
ETA-it looks like the printing service they offer is very limited. Are they stupid? You can only print these?
Click-N-Ship offers domestic Priority Mail® service, domestic Express Mail® service, Global Priority Mail®, Global Express Mail® and Global Airmail® Parcel Post®. We recommend you try a PC Postage® service provider if you wish to print labels for all services. These companies offer a wide array of additional features.
If that's the case, never mind.
Answer
Yep! That's why I don't use it--too limited. No Media Mail, 1st Class, etc.
Answer
You can do all the USPS site can do and more (stealth postage, 1st class, media, etc.) through PayPal, even if your buyer does not pay with Paypal. There is no extra cost to use it, just the same cost as the P.O. The only catch is that it is prepaid postage only so if you wanted to pay postage at the Post office that wouldn't work for you. Although I have an account, I don't use the on-line USPS as I find it awkward. I mostly use SA3 (from USPS) for any non pre-paid labels and occassionally PayPal for any labels that I want pre-paid and without listing the postage if that seems the way to go.
Answer
I can't get the USPS site to print for me. I asks about downloading some program Adobe and I have it and even re down loaded and it still won't print. I have no idea why. I use to use it and then when it changed this last time and had that program ,I can't get it to print. If anyone else had this problem let me know what you did to get it going.
Answer
Thanks, lop-I'll have to check into that. I wonder, do they have this set up where you can do the Scan form thing through paypal? Also-can I pay for postage out of my checking account or through my credit card if I don't have any $ in my pp account?
diann-sometimes I think Adobe hates me

I don't believe SCAN forms are available via Paypal yet, but I know that integrating with multi-order shipping is in the works. Yes and yes to the last two questions.
Answer
Diann, I haven't been able to get the USPS site to print for me for over a year. Maybe closer to 2! It's happy to take my money but it won't print.
I used to use paypal and 2 years or so ago, they made some change. It then took me 10 minutes to print one label!
I don't sell enough quantity to justify endicia either. But I sure could justify the $16/mo to save my sanity! It just works for me. All the time.

I want the thing where the usps scans it and then returns it to me showing all the items I shipped on one form. Any chance paypal is working on that? Or is that what you mean?
