Question
Hi
Sister and I were having a discussion about an item I bought a few years ago.
I thought others might find this info useful (hey ebay actually answered a question that I found the answer useful!!)
But too, you will be able to see all the junk you have purchased! It's like why did I buy some of this stuff?
I understand your concern and would like to inform you that as a new
feature you will be able to view all the past purchases from your My
eBay by just going to all buying and all selling of your My eBay page.
In order to view the past purchases please follow the steps below.
1. Click on My eBay at the top of any eBay page. You may be asked to
log
in.
2. Click on the Won link on the left under the All Buying heading.
3. As you scroll down, just able the bottom of the page you will see
the
heading "Past Purchases". You will need to click on the link "past
purchases" which will be in the line stating, "Convert your past
purchases into cash or quickly search similar items that you want to
buy
more of."
4. Once you click on that link you'll be able to quickly review your
last 3 years of purchases, up to a maximum of 500 items. Also you will
be able to find other helpful links as mentioned below.
a. Find similar active items to bid on or purchase.
b. Research similar Completed Items.
c. Sell that item or one similar to it.
Also note that you will be able to view items you have purchased that
ended more than 60 days ago because the items that was purchases within
last 60 days will be displayed in your won section of My eBay.
Answer
That's very handy. Thanks
Answer
It's scarey, because it means ebay is keeping more detailed records for a much longer period of time--and we all know why they're doing that... for the federal government, when they begin collecting taxes and conducting audits.
Answer
Why is that scary?
Answer
doesnt give you the selling price or any other $$$ data
Answer
... for the federal government, when they begin collecting taxes and conducting audits.
I was under the impression that your Federal Government had been doing that for a long time - through a little known department called the I.R.S.

Answer
Most people don't report eBay income. eBay doesn't report your income to the IRS for you, either. So paying taxes on eBay sales, while the government would love for people to believe this is mandatory, is actually voluntary, simply because they have not been enforcing it yet. When I see eBay keeping detailed records, I know that eBay's partnership with the IRS is not far off.
Answer
Most people don't report eBay income.
That's a pretty strong statement.
Is 'most' 51% of sellers?
Answer
It's a statement that I believe to be fact. 51% or more (and I believe it's probably 75%) do not report their ebay activity to the federal government. Nor should they.
Answer
The pertinent question in that context is "What perecentage of Ebay sellers are [b]legitimately[/i] hobbyists (say upgrading their personal collection), or people that are selling personal/surplus/obsolete property?" Those who are using Ebay as an actual income source should be paying tax, and should be prepared for scrutiny from the Tax department. But it would be interesting to know what percentage of Ebay sellers that represents these days.
