Date: 02/23/04 Time: 03:06:40 PM PST

Over the next few days, eBay will introduce several new features and enhancements to the item page. These enhancements include many changes that have been requested by the Community.
Some of the enhancements include:
Prominent shipping region - The regions to which a seller will ship will be displayed above the item description.
Improved Confirmation screens - Separate pages for Bidding and Buy It Now confirmation will be implemented to make them load faster; in addition, the Bidding Confirmation screen will have a "Check Status" feature available to the high bidder if 60 minutes or fewer remain in the listing to help them easily return to the item page.
Enhanced Bid History - The email address and location of the high bidder will be available to the seller from the Bid History page.
Start Time - The time the listing was started will be indicated at the top of the item page.
Larger font - Increased text size improves legibility for many members.
Printer-Friendly mode - A new printer-friendly feature, located at the bottom of the page, will offer a quick, efficient way to print the item page with page-breaks included and buttons and the status box removed.
Email this item to a friend - This will be updated to be more consistent with other forms on the site, and will remain in its current location.
We appreciate the input we received from the Community that led to many of these changes, and we hope these enhancements increase the efficiency of the item page for our buyers and sellers.
Regards,

Answer
Hi Blanche!
Most of it sounds pretty good. The larger font probably just means they increased the size of the paypal logo.
I wonder if the 'page breaks will affect 3rd party or homemade HTML auction templates?

Answer
...but the 'click to larger photo' will still take one passed the entire listing...

Answer
Hiya Kurt. Yep, I think eBay would LOVE to increase the size of those PayPal logos. Something along these lines should work:

Maybe we could write our descriptions INSIDE the PP logos. LOL
Bill, we can't have everything. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

I still automatically think "napster" when I see that shield and checkmark.

My Auctions - Ebony Visions & Fender Guitar Figurines

Answer
I see the meeting around the ebaY board table in my vision;
Hey Larry move the shipping info back up where it was last year. No Curly I think we are going to put it back where it was 2 years ago. Moe says "Shut up you guys, I'm going to put it where it really belongs" SMACK!!!! And you take that PP logo and make it so big that it slows up the loading of the page. POIFECT!!
This way maybe we can pizz off a few more sellers? Oh Oh Oh, hey Moe can we change the categories and screw them up again? Shadupp I tell yah, your thinking way ahead here. We have to concentrate only on the bigger things, got it guys? Now you measure yours and I'll measure mine, then we'll tell Mz. Whitman.

Moose,
I love the fact that you can post such things, and ebaY is helping to pay for it with their google ad at the top. LOL! I bet that burns their bippy. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

After the war, in May, on Polish television, President Bush said, "We found the weapons of mass destruction. You know, we found biological laboratories." --George Will, The Washington Post.
"I never had sex with that woman." Impeached President Bill Clinton.

Answer
Let's see, Ebay "improved" the Item page in June of last year because it wasn't good enough.... so how do these improvements compare with what was in place last May?
QUOTE: Prominent shipping region - The regions to which a seller will ship will be displayed above the item description.
Back to where it was last May! (and appreciated)
QUOTE: Improved Confirmation screens - Separate pages for Bidding and Buy It Now confirmation will be implemented to make them load faster; in addition, the Bidding Confirmation screen will have a "Check Status" feature available to the high bidder if 60 minutes or fewer remain in the listing to help them easily return to the item page.
The "check status" appears to be new.... with luck the implementations that make the bidding pages load faster will get it back up to the speed that it was at last May.

QUOTE: Enhanced Bid History - The email address and location of the high bidder will be available to the seller from the Bid History page.
Returning to what was available last May!
QUOTE: Start Time - The time the listing was started will be indicated at the top of the item page.
Hopefully this will also show up on the completed auctions, then they will back as they were last May!
QUOTE: Larger font - Increased text size improves legibility for many members.
I Have no idea how this compares to the "old" selling page, but I only ever saw complaints about the font after the new "improved" selling page came into effect.
QUOTE: Printer-Friendly mode - A new printer-friendly feature, located at the bottom of the page, will offer a quick, efficient way to print the item page with page-breaks included and buttons and the status box removed.
Apparently like the old format was (I don't use a printer so can not be sure whether the old page was "printer-friendly" )
QUOTE: Email this item to a friend - This will be updated to be more consistent with other forms on the site, and will remain in its current location.
This sounds like one of Ebay's aesthetic moves. I know that the "Email this item to a friend" was more obvious (to me at least) on the old page.
======
I must say that I do like most of these "enhancements", it's a pity that they had to remove most of them from the site for about 8 months so that Ebayers would actually see them as "improvements".
Cycnically, Kevin

Bolding is mine ...... just because I like the context in relation to my comments above.
