Contacting bidders

Question
Hi
I've never done this before and was wondering if it's ebay correct or if bidders would mind.
I have an auction ending late tonight. It's being shipped in a flat rate box.
I have two similar items listed with no bids. Shipping is a bit high since they are on the heavy side.
Would I be out of line to email bidders on the flat rate box item and let them know that if they win the other two similar auctions, I could ship them in the same box for no extra shipping charge?
I really should have thought to put the info in the auctions. I'm back. I just tried to add to the description but I guess it's too late.

Answer
Why not add that info to the auction?

Answer
It's too late. I guess I can't add info within so many hours of closing.
It's too bad. Shipping on the other two auctions is $5.05. That would save a buyer $10.10 I just didn't think fast enough.

Answer
I was looking at the covered buttons and the velcro thinking that I should get those plus the the crochet hooks... Figured you'd send them all for the one rate.
I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe your buyer has already thought of the idea...
??

Answer
Hi
I always try to combine shipping. I think the post office gets too much of our money.

Answer
I can't pretend to fathom the way Ebay thinks, but I think as long as you let *ALL* of the bidders know that, and not some or one, it would be a fair and even playing field, you aren't disadvantaging one versus another. Of course, someone who hadn't bid yet wouldn't have that information, but nothing would stop them from asking. I have buyers who ask for media mail instead of priority mail, combined shipping, etc. and have done so myself.
Of course, if you really want to play it safe, you could wait until the auction ends, and then if the buyer of the heavy item wins one or both of the other items, send them an email saying I'll be able to combine shipping, I'll adjust the shipping total on your invoice. I send most of my cookbooks via priority flat rate mail, but a few are too big for the envelopes, so I ship them media mail. A customer this weekend bought one of the biggies, and then was thrilled when I emailed her and said if you buy something else, I can upgrade you to a priority mail box for a $9 flat fee. Very happy, she was, and I made a second sale, which was good for me, too.
