Question
Hi all, my AOL buyers are all complaining that I do not communicate - even though I am sending most of them multiple emails with shipping info, etc.
I figure that somehow AOL's spam filters are killing my legitimate emails to buyers - anyone know what I can do about this?
thanks!
Answer
Take a look at your eMail subject line. It may have spam-like words in it.
"Congratulations" or "You Won" are words that may trigger spam filters.
On my EOA eMail subject line I have only the auction title and number.

Get another ISP.
This "we got to kill anything that might be spam" idea is going to kill legitimate internet commerce.

Its definitely a royal pain, do you know anyone with aol that could forward your emails, I've had to do that.
You could sign up for a different email service that would give you another chance.
I like certifiedmail as a second choice.

I'm having the same problem and am guessing it's because my e-mails come through my auction management system and not directly from my e-mail account. If I send directly from my e-mail account, then they go through okay.
I'm also having this problem with some other e-mail services. Although I definitely understand the need for Spam filters (I average 125 spam e-mails in my yahoo account EACH DAY), there's gotta be a better way to make sure the legitimate e-mails go through.

They are going to be the death of legitimate internet commerce. The spammers are going to find ways around them, and legitimate commerce is going to suffer.
We get junk mail all the time in our mailbox on the street, but would I ask the mail man to toss in the garbage anything that he thought was junk mail? Never, not in a thousand years, I can toss it in the garbage my self, thank you very much.
It time for someone to place a lawsuit against some of these ISP's for restraint of trade. An email from an eBay seller to the high bidder is a perfectly legitimate email, and to kill it instead of delivering it is criminal.

Click on their feedback (#) which brings you to their feedback page.
Click the "CONTACT MEMBER" button on the right side.
In the email write RE: YOUR WIN: and the winning Auction Title & Item #, then your sellers name and their bidders name.
Indicate you have not received a response to your EOA and that they should check ther SPAM FOLDER for your email; AND if the emails are not there, they probably have checked the button that says "Blocked mail should be <permanently deleted>
(note: the alternate option is <Delivered to the Spam Folder>, which I have enabled so at least I can SEE what emails have been filtered.
If this <deliver to spam folder> is enabled, then they need to check the Spam folder RELIGIOUSLY for ebay mail. Ebay EOA's ALWAYS end up in there.
Also, they could/should UNCHECK the AOL ADVANCED SPAM FILTER.
They can disable BOTH these spam-filtering options by going to the menu and clicking on >SETTINGS > PARENTAL CONTROLS > Pick their screen name, then hit the >EDIT E-MAIL CONTROL button.
AOL has really fk'd up their email with this crap. I can't understand why they've put this stuff in the "Parental Controls" menu, NOT the MAIL SETTINGS menu. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif
I realize this is more than anyone may have ever wanted to know or get involved with http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif, but it's definitely one of those PITA but important issues.

Don't feel bad. I've got a guy interested in an item from my shop (not ebay related) and he keeps emailing me about it. Problem is, he has his spam filter set so high (Earthlink) that unless he adds my email address to HIS address book, none of my emails get to him.
Of course, I also have no way of "pulling contact" information and calling him. All I have is his email address, which won't "let me in." http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif
I figure eventually he'll either figure it out, go ahead and purchase the bloody item - then I'll have some "real" information, or he'll just go elsewhere, getting the same "non response" until he, unlikely, buys a clue or gives up buying on the Internet altogether.

Same thing here. Non Ebay related, but AOL is filtering our ISP as well. Dumb move? or strategy on their behalf?
