BidPay in place of Paypal.....??????

Question
I was reading over at the eBay boards and there are quite a few threads that mention taking BidPay for payment. I thought we couldn't use them any longer.
Did I miss something here? The ones taking it seem to be happy with it and it hasn't seemed to have hurt their sales so they say. They are taking the BidPay in place of Paypal.
Anyone here taking it?

Answer
Bidpay was bought out by Cybersource earlier this year.

They don't make payment via Money Order anymore. It works like Paypal.

And they are a permitted payment service on eBay now:

Answer
Thanks d.u.i., I must have totally missed this with BidPay. I will have to check them out and see if it's any good. I had them before and it worked pretty good for the international buyers but that was when they did the money order thing.

Answer
Hmm, do tell. Anybody here use it?
As for $ being directed right to my bank account, I can think of a few pro's and cons.
While you don't have to wait long to xfer $, they do have their fingers connected right to your $.
Hmm... 'sides, I wonder if it actually makes a diff as far as attracting more bidders.

As for $ being directed right to my bank account, I can think of a few pro's and cons. Amazon pays it's sellers that way. I've never had a problem with them. I can't vouch for the new Bidpay. But direct deposit saves a step....no clearing the balance periodically like with Painpal.

Answer
Just have a checking account at a different bank exclusively for bidpay (just like people have been doing for paypal) and don't use the account for regular stuff.

Answer
I am seriously thinking of closing my paypal account. When I go to eBay and read the paypal board there it really gets me worried. It's like they don't have to answer to anyone about why they close someones account and take their money.
I don't leave any money in my account like I use to. Here is a statement from the news channel one man got ahold of in order to get help about paypal.
Channel 4 News has discovered some loopholes in PayPal’s consumer protection plans. The Emmy-winning Nashville music composer and producer makes his living composing scores for videos and TV specials.
He said when he saw a synthesizer module that creates musical sound effects for sale on eBay, he decided to bid on it.
"I'd had some good experiences with eBay, and in this situation the auction was closing pretty soon so I put in a bid and won it. I went ahead and paid for it through PayPal,” Wolf said.
PayPal is an eBay company that allows buyers and sellers to transfer money online.
Wolf said PayPal transferred $400 from his bank account, but the seller, who calls himself Puritybay, wouldn't ship the equipment.
“So at that point this seems fishy to me and so I'd like a tracking number or my refund in 24 hours and I never heard from them again after that,” he said.
Wolf assumed he would get his $400 back because eBay said PayPal's buyer protection provides free coverage up to $1,000.
"I thought I was totally protected,” he said.
But buried on PayPal's Web site, Channel 4 News discovered the maximum payout is just $200 minus a $25 processing fee for eBay.

Answer
Diann - hope you're staying warm with another round of snow...
Bidpay reopened earlier this year after being bought by Cybersource, like someone said. If your transactions are under $50, they're a more expensive option compared to Paypal, if they're over $50 they're cheaper.
The Paypal Board is like a Complaint Department - you see all the bad but none of the good. Given the volume of transactions they do on a daily basis, the vast majority of transactions are running off without a problem. Problems DO happen, of course - and I've had some bad feelings about the way some were resolved or not resolved that have been posted.
But in the case of the situation with that buyer - if I remember from the board posting, the listing wasn't eligible for BPP - but they expected BPP coverage. The buyer doesn't know how to check for BPP coverage on a listing, and blame Paypal for their own lack of understanding.
