As a special offer to our sellers, we are pleased to announce a one-day promotion for www.ebay.com and www.ebay.ca where the insertion fees for Auction-style and Fixed Price listings will be 20¢!
The promotion starts on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 00:00:01 PT (12:00 AM plus one second) and ends that same day, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 23:59:59 PT (11:59 PM plus 59 seconds). Listings which were created prior to October 25, 2006 and scheduled to start during the promotional period will also be eligible for the special promotional rate.
The 20¢ Insertion Fee Sale will not apply to eBay Motors vehicles and Parts & Accessories listings, or to International, Live Auction, Professional Services, Real Estate, Ad Format, and Store Inventory listings. Also, the following Business & Industrial categories are excluded from this promotion: tractors & farm machinery (category #91952), heavy equipment (25249), concession trailers, carts (67145), imaging and aesthetics equipment (92035), forklifts and other lifts (97185), manufacturing equipment (92080), metalworking equipment (92082), and commercial printing presses (26247).

Answer
Geez-I listed yesterday(actually I think it was this morning-I just got it finished last night I don't even know what I've done today) for the first time since December and they go and do this*snork*

Answer
Does anyone here think it is worth scrambling...would you put up only high ticket items, more for exposure or mid range items?
Do they do this because business is slow, or as an incentive to get more sellers to participate?

Answer
Here's my perspective:
Let's say I have an item I'd like to sell for $1,000 but I'll entertain offers up to, oh, $875. I list it today for a mere 20 cents but (and here's the beauty part) not only do I get a 7 day fixed price listing for less than than the freight of a proverbial cup of coffee, I get access to eBay's best new feature, too: Best Offer.
You guys are dumb for not using Best Offer now, while it is still FREE.
So what's the board response to 20 cent listing day? Do I hear choruses of "Hallelujah"? Nope, we got sellers who act like Meg's standing behind 'em today with a pair of pliers, pulling out their teensy neck hairs. Oh the horror of being offered such an incredible deal. It's gonna destroy the free world as we know it!
Only thing I can figure is that you guys just don't have a grip on basic math. Or you don't care if anything sells.

I think it's just for reasons like this that people just don't have faith in ebay anylonger. Thier greed factor is just too high on my scale.

Answer
Darn, the thread had been deleted.
So, Empires, give us a synopsis of that greed factor.
This dumb person used Fixed Price with Best Offer on several items last night. Today, the highest item sold without using the Best Offer. I was happy until I logged into eBay to see that the bidder had registered and been NARU'd today. I got my listing fees and the $12.73 FVF back and relisted the item. Sheesh.
