PayPal pending payment shows will clear 11 days later? WTF?

Question
I got a pending payment 8/5, and the email says This eCheck Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes 4 business days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item until the funds have cleared into your PayPal account. You will be notified by email when the funds have cleared into your PayPal balance. This payment on the website, however, expects 11 business days in the transaction details.

Status: Uncleared(Expected Clearing Date: Aug. 22, 2006) What is the deal with that?

Answer
Those are usually payments that bounced. It may never clear. Once I had one in limbo for nearly a month.

Answer
Great.
A whole month Mag? Did you just sit on it or make contact with the buyer?
It's already 2 weeks past the auction today.

Answer
Its been a little while, but I think I called paypal and asked them how to cancel it so it stopped dragging on. I can't remember if I ever got paid or not... I think the buyer just disappeared and I filed for fees.
Is your buyer still in contact with you? Maybe you could email and innocently ask what's causing the delay. You might suggest they cancel the echeck and send a money order.

What is the deal with that? It's not unusual at all for e-checks to take that long to clear. I have had them take as long as 30 days. I find the norm to be about 7-10 days. Be patient and let the system do its thing.

Answer
Its a normal thing if they are using the system and having to put in money into the account. Conact the purchaser and let them know you will ship when paypal clears the payment.

Answer
FLvamp, my experience with long clearing dates on eChecks is that PayPal does not let you know if the check ultimately fails to clear; it simply cancels the payment with no email to you.
So unfortunately you're probably going to have to monitor the payment until it's resolved. What a pain that can be if it's a high dollar amount item.

Really, this is the first time I've had a pending take longer than 5 days. I've used PP since early 2000.
Is there any way I can cancel it from my end if I was so inclined? Just exploring some options here, not saying I intend to cancel it at this point.
I've emailed the buyer already as they left out their apt number (address label processing told me that part) and included a blurb about the payment. Haven't heard anything yet.

What is the deal with that? Ask the buyer to cancel and pay by credit card or money order. Anything would seem to be faster that PayPal eCheck (or should that be PayPal slowCheck)

Answer
If your terms state lets say 7 day payment and PP is jogging you around, file the Unpaid and put the heat back on PP. Let the seller get the ball rolling. Afterall, you haven't recieved payment untill it's in your bank or hands.
