Question
Check out these 2 power sellers book shipping charges --
megamediadepot
amazobook
Particularly, check their listings on highest priced first... some shipping charges $20-$30+
Dollar to a doughnut, they are dropshipping off Amazon, too. Happen to notice them when I started to list ISBN 0691027900 on Amazon... some knothead apparently price-checked Ebay, so listed his at $30... without reading those 2 sellers shipping charges. The $30 price is about $15-$20 under the going rate, if anyone cares to snatch it.

I never knew packing was so labor intensive..
Fresh listings... I can see why Meg would want a seller like this around.
Answer
Yikes -- anyone else feel like reporting this guy? I'm surprised other peeps read the post, but don't seem bothered... This is fee avoidance at its WORST.
Answer
It isn't JUST the high dollar s & h gougers that are making eBay a hell hole.....
This seller is abusing the system to no end also!
300+ listings....all with quanities of 100 available on each.....and ALL at 1¢ Buy It Now!!! The $7.98 s&h charge ($3.49 on EACH additional item) is only about $7.00 or so above the actual postage, but it DOES make for a nice amount to cover those little extra things like inventory cost, eBay fees, PayPal fees, supplies, and a healthy profit per item.
The items themselves is a whole OTHER story too. Why eBay permits these reprinted photos (copyright violations galore) is bad enough; but to encourage allowing them to be listed as "autographed" AND the 1¢ BIN is just a cumulative pile of BS. So long as these types of sellers are "overlooked", all the proclaimations from the ivory tower in San Jose about "cracking down" are nothing but piss poor lip service.
This is nothing but BLATANT fee avoidance......unless of course, Bill Cobb has been using his infamous "six percent calculator" to figure out what 8% of a freakin' penny is!!!
Answer
Bad, but not as bad as $20-$30+... or $200+...
I want the bucks a power seller is making, too.
Should I open a shop and charge just less than the other 2?? They can do it, why not me?? I don't have the software, but... for what they are making, I'll hook my azz up to this 'puter and give it a go.
Some things just aren't right!
Answer
OK wait.
Shipping for a book is $241.16 with $2.00 discount for multiple items?

I'll have to spend some time with the report link tomorrow...

Wild. Maybe his listing program automatically fills in the shipping value as 25% of the minimum bid?
Answer
Apparently this book weighs 67 lbs according to the item specifics. There is something really screwy about this listing, the book is also 12" thick.

I agree that is what they are doing. They are just using a percentage of the item cost for shipping. Look on the bright side -- they are still low on the insurance cost. Of course, I'll bet they are self-insured.
