Question
Screech!!!!!!!!!
Am I stupid? Or blind? Is it somewhere on the PayPal site and I have overlooked it? Where does it say that multi-seller payments override your payment preferences?
PayPal accepted a payment from an unconfirmed address, even though I have the box checked that says NOT to.
Here is the answer to the email I sent them, asking why they did that.
Dear xxx xxxxx,
Hello, my name is Patricia, and I am happy to assist you with your question
regarding a payment received from a customer with an unconfirmed address.
In reviewing your PayPal transaction history, we see this payment was an
eBay multi-seller order. eBay's multi-seller process overrides your block
on your receiving preferences not to receive payments sent from an
unconfirmed address.
Thank you for choosing PayPal. It has been my pleasure to assist you with
your questions. Your satisfaction and experience with PayPal are very
important. You may receive a survey from our third party vendor, Benchmark
Portal and we would appreciate any feedback you can provide.
Sincerely,
Patricia

I believe it's when the eBay BUYER hits the "Pay all your sellers at once" button.
Having it "over-ride" a sellers preferences, though; that's just not right.
BTW, I accept unconfirmed addresses all the time without a problem.
YMMV.

Yep no problems with such.
Answer
I figured it (eBay's multi-seller process) would be from a sale in Ebay Express...
Answer
I've accepted unconfirmed address payments in the past, for small amounts. This was a 135.00 ending price, too big a bite for me to swallow if things were to go weird.
I don't like that PayPal can do that, seems that if it's their choice instead of mine that I should be covered.
Answer
Aha, Thanks Kathleen.
If that's the case, it does seem wrong for them to override the seller's preferences because of technical inadequecy on their part. Especially when they state (so i understand) they won't back up a seller if an item is sent to an unconfirmed address.
Answer
I think the main issue here isn't the fact that accepting payment from an unconfirmed address is the end of the world, it's the fact that PayPal can override a sellers preferences... that is scarey! It's scarey because PayPal somehow thinks they have some right to do things that a seller specifies they shouldn't do with their account.
Answer
I have mine set to allow me to accept or deny such payments, rather than a flat ban. Maybe that would work better.

Read the fine print. They cover paypals butt.
