Squaretrade question

Question
I wondered about this statement. I thought ST was an ebay auction thing. Are they for other websites? I've found them pretty useless, but what do I know?
IS A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING WITH SQUARE TRADE
SquareTrade is the leading provider of online shopping services addressing the "trust deficit" in ecommerce. Established in 1999, SquareTrade delivers industry-leading merchant verification, post-purchase protections and its pioneering online dispute resolution service. SquareTrade works with leading organizations including eBay, Yahoo!, Google, the California Association of REALTORS®, and the US Federal Trade Commission's econsumer.gov program, as well as with thousands of online merchants to help millions of consumers shop safely every month.

Answer
I thought Square Trade was just a cash cow for ebay to make it's $20 on negative feedback removals.
I think the point you make is an obvious one... that *many* buyers outside of ebay (including many who are ebay shoppers) don't know or care what Square Trade is.
I think the BBB online would be a far better organization to join, from a sellers point of view.
Cheers

Answer
It's $30 now.

Answer
It's $30 now. DOH!

Answer
That's just robbery. It's nothing but paying the people in that department to push buttons and remove negs. Nothing more.

Answer
But does it have anything to do with other websites? (Google for instance )

Answer
From my understanding, SquareTrade is a company on its own that eBay, along with other companies including Google, have contracted to do mediating work for them.
Has any of the above posters ever used SquareTrade?
I have once before eBay started the mutual removal of feedback. They did more than push buttons for me and I got the f/b removed, but I had to pay the $20, not the buyer who also got their f/b removed for free.
