First experience with Best Offer

Question
I saw an item on ebay listed with a Buy-It-Now of $9.95 with $4.05 shipping. I thought I would like the item better for $11.00 than $14.00 so I decided to give the "Best Offer" option a try for the first time. My offer of $7.00 was accepted almost immediately. I went to use Paypal to pay and was quite surprised to discover the shipping on the invoice now stated $6.05 instead of $4.05. I queried the seller and the reply was
I can't afford to lose money on shipping, I am not making any money, as it is. If it is 4.05, I will refund thru paypal. Oh well, I guess I still saved 95 cents!

Answer
I'd cancel the transaction on principle-they are NOT allowed to raise the rate of shipping charges if they accept the best offer. I'd not pay it but to each his own

Answer
mapledr, I have "make an offer" on most of my items and when the seller accepts an offer the buyer makes it is the same as any auction, the seller is NOT allowed to raise the shipping! I would NOT follow through with payment and would let the buyer know that what they did is against eBay's TOS and that unless they adhere to the terms and rates that were advertised, that you will be contacting eBay about it. And if you HAVE already paid, demand a full refund!

Answer
Does the auction have a $2 handling fee listed?

Answer
No, no handling fee. I decided to not get stressed out about it though, of course, it bugged me. Especially the part in the reply about "not making any money as it is" which seemed like it was intended to make me feel guilty about making the "best offer"...which she accepted.
Anyway, I went ahead and paid and then the seller sent another email where she promised to refund any extra shipping I paid. Sure seems like an odd way to do business...and she is a power seller. Why not just buy a scale?

Answer
Because they can charge what they want, and buyers will pay it
Any chance you can PM me the seller's name so I can avoid them?
