Question
I can't see the point of doing this. Apparently my bidder did, cuz she cancelled her $100 bid on my auction after 5 days and bid on this guy. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_mad.gif I can't get my mind around if this is legal or not.

Answer
I have no idea if it's ebay legal or not, but that said, I really don't get it in the first place. The auction literally makes no sense to me - I'm amazed someone bid on it.

I don't know if it is ebay legal or not but I do know that I wouldn't bid on it or her store stuff.
I don't think anyone should have to buy a discount coupon.
which is basically what she is selling. If you don't buy the discount coupon for $5 you don't get the 10% off.
I don't know anything about the product she is selling so I can't tell if she has padded her store prices or if he shipping is higher than most.
I figure she must be getting her money back someway.
The customers would have to want more than $50 worth of merchandise from her to make it worth their while.
weird.

Most of the prices are several times retail, but there is no law against selling expensive... got bless her if she can get it.
No pop ups here.

I sound un ed joo mahhh kate ed.
blahhh I am sick so that will have to be a good enough excuse. lol
Johnny... what I meant in that fog of fungus I typed earlier was.... are her prices in line with what yours are before or after her bought discount?
seems odd that your bidder would go through all that trouble to save $5.
Either that or your bidder doesn't realize that they are only going to be saving $5 after all that.
edited again cause I am a moron.

I don't see a current auction for the same item that was retracted, we just sell the same line.
I'm trying to liquidate my stuff, she's trying to maximize her profits. Doesn't make sense. Maybe it was just coincidence, but I'm still Mayor McSalty.
Here's an apples to apples...
her
me
only completed auction
Full Retail = $60.
So, the prices are absolutely high. But there is nothing wrong with that. I just don't understand it. Anyway - I lost a $100 bid after 5 days which totally ticked me off then I see this and I'm wondering if it's allowed. I'm not going to report the guy. He shouldn't be any competition at all.
I hope you're feeling better soon!

Isn't that considered Circumventing Fees? Aren't the listing fees in the store much cheaper than on the auction site? It's cheaper to list a $5 item than it is to list a $35 item? So, yep, I think it is circumventing fees much like the one below that eBay cites.

quote:
Users may not avoid eBay fees.
Users may not use systems or techniques to circumvent eBay fees.
Examples:
Listings with additional purchases - listing an item that requires or offers an additional purchase. For example, travel certificates that require the holder to buy or pay for something (such as a hotel room for 7 nights) as a condition of receiving the benefit of the coupon (such as free or discounted airfare).
