eBay Removing Listings that have BidPay in them.

Question
Two days in a row, eBay has removed two of my auctions.
eBay currently has 1142702 items found with the word "BidPay" in them. Why aren't those auctions removed? eBay may loose too much money if they removed everyones' auctions.
I'm so angry that I may just shoot myself in the foot if I take PayPal out of my auctions also.
So, if anyone has BidPay in their Templates, you've been warned.

Your listing(s) contains the following information:
BidPay
BidPay
After reading BidPay in eBay's Help section, I'm even more angry.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidenc...-payments.html
Payment methods on eBay include the following:
PayPal
Credit Card
Personal or Cashier's Checks
Money Orders (including Bid Pay)
Escrow
Bank to Bank Wire Transfer
Instant Cash Wire Transfers (not recommended by eBay)
Cash (not recommended by eBay)
< snip >
4. Money Orders (including BidPay)
Benefits:
Traceable to a particular mailing address.
Provides proof of payment.
Covered up to $200 through the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program (minus $25 for processing costs).
Some services offer the option to stop if problems arise before the payment is cashed, but you don't always have this option.
Risks:
Sellers must wait for funds to clear.
Extremely difficult to recover in cases of fraud. BidPay goes defunct on Dec. 31, 2005 and eBay goes crazy on Jan 30, 2006.

Do you think it's more likely you were reported by competition? Don't they say that they don't actually scan the site, but rely on reports to deal with listings?

Answer
Yes, I think that I was reported by a competitor, but even eBay Trust & Safety employees should be intelligent enough to know that the word BidPay is no reason to close an auction.

Sorry you're the one with the cheap shot competition .

Answer
Idunno but maybe it's time to go through your templates and existing auctions and remove any mention of the defunct payment method. Course Bidpay announced this awhile ago ... I would have removed it then instead of waiting until after they were gone.
Anyhow, what's the point of being mad? Because everyone else wasn't pulled? Just say, "I should have fixed my templates earlier.. I"m going to do it now because ebay forced me to" and do it.
BTW, ebay's "safe payment" policy went into effect 1/15/06.. perhaps mentioning a defunct payment system/method is considered "not safe" by ebay and they just haven't gotten around to adjusting their help pages yet. Just a thought.

Answer
Yikes! Mine's still there, I just figured that it "wouldn't work" or would be removed by default or something.
Sorry to see it go as an option. I had very few use it, but when they did, no problems......and no fees for me!

There are just too many to change one by one overnight. Sure BidPay announced this a while ago; maybe a couple of months. Was is not during the holiday selling season? Did BidPay not say that they were closing on December 31, 2005?

It's pretty silly to me to remove two auctions and leave two million with BidPay up. And, eBay doesn't force me to do anything, nor does anyone else talk or think for me.

Just a thought. eBay has thousands of employees whereas there is only one of me. ebay hasn't gotten around to adjusting their help pages yet they remove listings and keep the help pages up mentioning the reason they removed the listing. Strange to me.
I actually wanted to let people know that they should pull BidPay from their auctions and templates.
You know, as long as I've been on here, I never thought of telling someone to go fly a kite. At my age, I certainly don't need any condescending remarks.
FYI, I've been busy and emotionally distraught which you nor eBay should care about. It's not everyday that I bury my sister.

Answer
I guess I should apologize because I don't keep up with what happens in everyone's life here in the forums, I have too many other things to do. If there's been a thread about your loss, I missed it. I really am sorry for your loss.
I was truely confused about why you were angry and was offering a different way of looking at the situation that you were complaining about, in your first post in the thread.
IOW, instead of being mad and pissy, simply fix the problem. Keeping "bidpay" in your auctions, after the company is defunct could be considered keyword spamming or just poor business practices in the fact that you're potentially misleading customers. Who knows. I certainly don't.
Was it silly for ebay to do? Sure it is. But you and I have been around ebay long enough that there's no real rhyme or reason for them to do it. The smartest thing to do is simply fix the problem on your end, rather than to waste time/energy chasing ebay's tail trying to figure them out.
Another point I'd like to address is your theory that you have too many auctions to correct "overnight". First of all, bidpay announced awhile ago and has been gone for a month. It's hardly overnight. Secondly, just as it's difficult for you to correct everything on the fly, because you're one person, what makes you think that the 1000's of employees that haunt ebay's halls are qualified (or even have access) to adjust the code on any webpage that is supported by ebay's servers? There could be 10 people in the entire establishment that are qualified or have access to the site...... and there could be 1000's of pages for them to go through (and I'm not discussing auction pages - only static pages) in order to remove their references to bidpay. So your "I can't" is as relevant as theirs.
I will make note though, that when you post that you're "letting off steam" and not really looking for the answer to "why" or even a solution to the current problem or how to keep the same problem from repeating in the future.
There, now you have condescending. You didn't before. But you certainly do now.

Answer
Just how can a defunct payment method be "unsafe"???
It's like saying driving drunk in a car with no engine is "unsafe".... you ain't goin' nowhere...
I searched for "c2it" and got 1796 results, even though c2it has been defunct for what, TWO YEARS?????
Get this: 128930 listings with "wire transfer", not that it matters any, even though wire transfers are an ACTIVE and PROHIBITED method of accepting payment on eBay.
On Monday, we had an auction yanked for selling a prohibited product... bear skin. Ooops... we honestly didn't know... other furs are listed, we assumed bear was OK. We VIOLATED policy, which plainly states that no bear items are allowed. Oh well... we move on. Even though I don't agree with the policy, I understand that the auction was justifiably removed.
But THIS is a PETTY thing to yank an auction for. Yes, I'd be mad, too. Mad that ebay doesn't have competent personnel.
Cheers
