Would you buy from me?

Question
I haven't sold in ages (probably 2 years?), but have bought during that time - combined ID. I have in excess of 1300 positive feedback (98.8). Now I have a fairly big ticket $500 item to sell. It's a Dell laptap (reburb, new in unopened box). Most sellers seem to be Powersellers with a ton of them. Would you be leery of buying from me? Dell's warranty starts from the shipping date, so I can't dilly dally...it should be here Mon.

Answer
It would depend on how recent the negs are, what they actually say, and your responses to them. But generally speaking, no, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you.
As a buyer, I might e-mail a question or two just to see how quickly/thoroughly you answer, for that large a purchase. That's probably just me, though. I like to have some prior personal communication for that large (to me) a sale.

Answer
I wouldn't buy a computer on ebay - just heard too much about fraud in that arena and dollars are too large (I believe in the old axiom - don't gamble more than you can afford to lose). But apparently people do - so good luck!! Maryanne

Answer
No - I probably can buy it cheaper elsewhere.

having recently spent over 500 on a laptop on ebay , I would
if you look you will see lots of succesfull sellers in the computer area with feedback of less then 98% dosent seem to effect final value .
If your interested in a local sale let me know , I know someone in st pete who may be interested .

Answer
Depending on how long the "ages" is, there may be a fear that the account has been hijacked - but even that would only apply to very experienced buyers. Most hijacks attract an amazing amount of bidding (probably because the prices are too good to be true).
Good Luck, Kevin

Answer
I wouldn't buy from someone who had an inactive account and then suddenly showed up with a computer for sale. I'd figure the account had been hijacked. On the other hand, if there were other items listed for sale at about the same time I'd consider it.
My dh is looking for a laptop for taking in the truck with him. What are the specs on yours? When will you be listing it?
Elaine

Answer
Take a look at the feedback of some guys who sell laptops every day then ask that question to yourself again. I don't think you have anything to worry about. In fact, you have a big advantage over most of them since much of the time they sell their laptops without so much as Windows being installed or even part of the package. If yours can be booted up and used on receipt you're ahead of the game.
Now, after spending over $400 each on 2 laptops and having them both be complete broken down pieces of crap from sellers who do sell laptops every day and having both of them tell me to go f myself I will never buy a computer on eBay again, ever, and I don't usually overreact like that.

Answer
I'd buy from you as long as I could use my credit card to pay for it. And the idea of having other things listed at the same time is an excellent one to prevent buyers from thinking you've been hijacked.

Answer
my favourite computor was purchased on ebay from a guy who didn't "sell computors" ...so heck ya, I'd buy off of you long before off a "computor seller"
