Relisting credits

Question
Just a quick question. If I list something and it doesn't sell, and I relist it, and it sells, do the second set of listing fees not get automatically credited? An item sold last night that was a relist, but I don't see any listing credits on my account. Does this take time to go through? Or do you have to bug eBay all the time to request the credits? I hope not because I haven't been checking my account that closely so I hope they haven't been getting more of my money then they should be.
It doesn't matter that I used the relist link after the item sold before does it? Like I had 3 of these, and it sold the first 2 listings, but I just used the relist button on the sold item to list it the 3rd time, and then it didn't sell, so I relisted it, using the relist button a 2nd time. They're not going to count that as already being relisted because I used the relist button on an already sold item are they? Does this make sense?? LOL

Answer
Sigh... I think I should have used the "sell similar" link on the sold items. I think they are going to shaft me on the credits because I kept using the "relist" link, so they might be counting it as a multiple relist, even though it was only unsold once, so I should be entitled to the insertion credit.
Stupid technicalities.

Answer
I think you should search the archive. I seem to remember reading ages ago that there is no relist credit for sold auctions from relists of unsolds which were launched from relists of solds.

Answer
Unless eBay has changed their rules, this is the way I see the situation.
List 1st time = Sold
List 2nd time = Sold
List 3rd time = Unsold (no credit)
List 4th time = Sold (credit)
What's the color of the Status Icon before you hit relist?
You can relist items through the Unsold View. The Status column shows if your item has been relisted or not. If the status icon is blue, your unsold listing has been relisted. If the icon is gray, the item has not been relisted. The color of the Status icon will help you know if you will get insertion fees waived when you relist your item. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unsold-listings.html

Answer
Thanks guys. I think I'm S.O.L. simply because I clicked "relist" on the sold item so it was counting it as a 3rd listing when it didn't sell and I relisted it again. You think the system would know that the item was sold so it's a new listing.
Oh well, I learn everything the hard way!

Answer
eBay did, in fact, change the way relists were credited awhile back.
Before if you relisted a sold item and it did not sell, it was eligible for a relist credit.
Now if you relist a sold item and it does not sell, it is not eligible for a relist credit.
eBay, of course, did not bother to announce this change.
Now you need to use "sell similar" to relist a sold item, if you want it to be eligible for a relist credit

But a gray does not always mean you are eligible for a relisting credit if sold. One still waste time clicking on gray listings and finding out listing not eligible for credit.

Answer
It's only eligible for relist credit the 1st time it is relisted, but only if none sold the first time, and not if it's a dutch listing. Dutch listings are never eligible for relist credit even if none sold the first time. You need to use sell similar to list the item the 3rd time you list it in order to get the credit the 4th time you relist it, but only if none sold the 3rd time. And if you up the price on the listing to make up for cost of listing again, it's not eligible for relist credit. You need to add that to the s/h.

Answer
I don't pay any attention to eBay's ever-changing system.
Here's what I do: When I list something the first time around, the price ends in ".x9." It might be $44.99, it might be $1.29, but it is always .x9.
When I relist it, I change the last digit to an .x8. If I have an unsold that ends in "8" then I know it is a relist.
If it does not sell the second time around, then I put it up as a new listing, again ending in .x9.
Just FYI, you have to adjust the price down to qualify for a relist credit. You can't increase the price.
