Question
I was just browsing my preferences at eBay, and I see that on Nov 13, 2005 Kyozou was given authority to "perform certain operations on my behalf" at eBay. Really? When did I give this authority? It has something to do with Powerseller status, but I've been a PS for quite a bit longer than that.
Anyone else give this third party power over their auctions and not know it?
Answer
Hi Steve ... it's good to "see" you again.
Did you purchase something from a seller who uses Kyozou's Checkout?
A few threads have been seen recently on the eBay Boards about this topic:

(another reason I won't use third party checkouts. )

Answer
Blanche,
Sure enough, it was a seller who uses Kyozou for checkout. That sucks!
Thanks for the tip! I just passed this information along to the seller.
Answer
Huh? Just because you used their checkout for a purchase now they have authority to perform certain actions on your behalf? If I make a payment, they have the authority to process the payment, that should be it...
Answer
Steve, thanks for bringing this up. I just checked my two buying accounts and found the following allowed to "perform certain operations on my behalf" : AuctionWorks, Zoovy, Auctiva, Andale, LiveAuctioneers, ChannelAdvisor, Jason Kim, and GoAntiques.
This is very disturbing. I did not, would not and never will allow any third party to act on my behalf.
Answer
THis is one reason I will NEVER EVER EVER use a seller who REQUIRES me to "checkout" through ANY third party service. If they tell me after the fact that I MUST use that checkout they will NOT get paid and will be reported to ebay as a non-performing seller. Can you tell what I'm in the middle of now?

The first link to a thread shows the thread has been deleted

Thank you. I wonder why it was deleted? Fairly tame thread.

If you have been affected by the third party intrusions into your preferences you should also check your cookies. All third party services require cookies - delete them, unless you don't mind being tracked.
I wonder if Ebay still tells users to never reveal their password to anyone?
