Question
Hi, Hoping someone can help me with this since searching paypals help has done nothing but waste my time.
I sold an item on ebay france. The buyer plans on paying with paypal.
I would like for the buyer to pay me in U.S. dollars instead of Euros. When making the payment, how does the buyer know how much to pay in U.S. dollars?
Answer
Just invoice the buyer through eBay. The invoice will be in U.S. dollars if your auction was in U.S. dollars and the buyer will automatically be paying in U.S. dollars when they follow the eBay pay invoice screens. The currency conversion is done automatically by PayPal which deducts the equivalent foreign currency amount from the buyer's PayPal account and places U.S. dollars in your U.S. dollar PayPal account.
Before eBay had the invoice capability I used to pay for pound sterling eBay auctions by going directly to the PayPal site and paying from there - one of the drop down boxes allows you to select the currency of payment. You do not need to have a PayPal account in that particular currency.
By the way, when you send to an invoice through eBay, the invoice will be received by the buyer in the native language of the country in which they registered on eBay, except for any notes you have added to the invoice.
