Question
I am one that doesn't want to use paypal...any other sellers on here that don't use it?
And buyers...would you buy from someone that doesn't use paypal,if it was something you really wanted?
Answer
I don't sell anymore. I most likely would not not buy from a seller that does not take Paypal. Maybe I would if it was the only one on eBay & if the seller accepted personal checks or another online CC payment system. But in general if the seller doesn't take some form of credit cards I hit the back button.

Yeah, I'd have no trouble sending a check, but I do prefer paypal.
Reasons?
Convenient.
Cuts down wait time.
No question if payment got delayed or lost in the mail.
Answer
Ditto. I especially don't want to have to go out and get a money order.
Answer
We still do not have a paypal account.
We do have a merchant account and take visa/mc by phone.
We had this account prior to "eBay" and use it at trade shows as well.
Offering visa/mc on ebay did increase our bottom line when we first offered it years ago.
The first year we sold we did not offer it, doh is us...
We should have all along.
We evaluate whether to sign up for paypal constantly it seems, even with this other option in place.

I signed up with PayPal on (almost) Day One, and used it for awhile, then kept hearing all the horror stories, so I stopped using it. Then PayPal seemed to get their act together (relatively speaking - LOL!), and I started using it again. I really like how it's integrated right into CheckOut now. Most times I don't even have to send the bidder a total.
As a buyer, I'd have to want something pretty bad to go to the trouble of sending a money order or check. It's hard for me to get out and buy a money order, stamps, etc., plus I like that PayPal offers a little protection in case of a transaction-gone-wrong. And I get impatient waiting for the money order to arrive, or the check to clear.
Answer
I don't use paypal. As a seller (low volume) since Jan 1999 our monthly sell through has only dipped (briefly) below 70% very few times and averages about 82% over the years. Our feedback is 100% positive. I get maybe 3 people a year who gripe about us not taking paypal, to which I relate that we prefer not to give up 3-5% of our income to pander to a TINY percentage who have relegated themselves to one single form of payment. All but a couple aparently wanted the items enough to relent and send a check, and left positive feedback. Only one didn't send a payment, he bought multiple items and consequently recieved strikes for each, upon which he finally sent the money and several emails begging us to clear the disputes.
We sell antiques, collectibles, art and unique items. I will staunchly maintain that not taking paypal has not effected our sales success to any degree that I would even contemplate changing. It may be different story if we sold competitive retail merchandise.
As a buyer, and I do buy on ebay, I pay by USPS money order. They can be cashed directly at any Post Office (with proper ID and if the PO has the amount on hand, up to $700 i think), or deposited/cashed like a check at the recipients bank.
I am thankful that I haven't reached the point where sending a money order presents any problem or inconvenience for me. I'm also blessed that in our "gimme it now" society I still have the simple patience to wait for such a transaction to transpire.
Please, I'm not tryin to be disparaging to anyone who likes the convenience and shorter turn around time of course. Those things ARE certainly desirable, but it's FAR more important to me that I get the item I want, at a price I like, from a respectable seller whom appears to deserve my business.
JMO, everybody's circumstanses are different.

I am one of the paypal only buyers too. I check three things every time I open an auction- do they take paypal, is their feedback good, and how much is shipping. In that order! I have occasionally bought from a non-paypal seller but I never bid as high and I will pass if there is anything similar available or if I think the item is common enough to come up again later. I just really hate having to buy a money order. And after years in the antiques business there are not many things I don't think I will see again in the future.
I view the cost of paypal the same way I do the bank fees on sales at my shop- it is just the cost of providing services people want. My shop is small so our fees are larger than the big businesses but if I didn't take credit cards at the shop our sales would go down the tubes. Sure some people would find the money deep in their pockets or would come back to buy an item they really want, but lots of folks no longer carry a checkbook and I don't want to bet on them returning later.
