Question
What is everyone's opinion on this???
Say you are selling some items that you have a good idea will only go for around $5......are you most likely going to put them on fixed price for $5.00......regualr auction for $5 and see what happens......or maybe start them at $5.00 with a $7.95 buy it now?
Just curious.
Answer
If I'm pretty sure of the price, I'll either put it up as FP or throw it in the store for a bit more, depending on my mood.
I had never used FP until they ran the FP .10 listing day. Made a believer out of me REAL quick!

Hmmm... I guess I'm going to have to try FP!
Answer
Can you tell us what you sell, what your stock levels are like and how your access is to more of these items?
It's really a case by case scenario.
Answer
I sell some craft items that can be seasonal. I use FP for them because when they want them, then want them now, and don't want to wait for an auction to end.
I sell them for a bit more at FP than other sellers do on auction. And I sell a lot of them.
Other items like collectible toys and glassware and such I list as regular auctions.
Also, with FP I find that they usually pick more than one item to save on shipping. Some of my buyers tend to 'stock up' and that's fine by me.
Answer
Buyers love BINs and FPs - they don't have to wait.
Like Roundabout said, its really a case by case situation. How much $$ do you have in them. How many do you have. How much competition is out there, and do they have BINs. How many are ending without bids, etc. Mainly how much competition is out there.
If you have a good idea of the ending price I think its a good idea to add a BIN. It really helps move stuff. People just don't want to wait.
As a buyer I admit I'm one of them.
Given a choice between an $8.00 BIN and a $6.00 auction, I would pay the $8.00 just to get it done. Not because I want it now, but just to get it on its way. Its a pain trying to remember to come back and check on it in two days only to find I'm outbid by 50 cents, etc.
