Answer
That is the newest generation of ebay's auction management program.
Brand spanking new re-write of the old Seller Assistant Pro.
Available for use now, but still in last stages of beta testing; could have
bugs.
Very powerful, large learning curve.
Blackthorne was the name of John Slocum's company, which created Auction Assistant.
Ebay bought it because at the time it was the best auction manager on the market.
Mr. Slocum came along with it. An interesting time in the history of the program for us
long long long time users...

Answer
I just looked at the seller's tools page, and it is listed under "additional tools", with this description:
Formerly known as Seller's Assistant, Blackthorne is eBay's all-in-one desktop software that has been redesigned and improved to give sellers more power, more customization and greater flexibility in managing their growing business. Blackthorne is available in two versions: Blackthorne BASIC and Blackthorne PRO
I guess maybe they're going to start pushing it. Maybe they want it to replace Selling Manager, and Selling Manager Pro...
Personally I still use what's free, Turbo Lister even though it's not the greatest. I would love to find something cheap that can keep track of sales, etc...

Has anyone tried it? Is the free trial only if you list 100 auctions a month? I could do that if I really tried... My basement would look better...

Answer
I checked into it, and I think anyone can get the free trial... But their recommendations are that "Basic" is for what they call "medium" sellers who sell between 25-100 items a month, and the "Pro" is for "High volume" sellers who sell 100 or more items per month...
Is it good to be a "medium"? LOL

I wouldn't be selling on eBay if I could...

Ok, that's interesting to know. Now I'd like to know why that ad is showing up on a supposed secure page when someone tries to submit bank info. It went to that ad instead of letting me submit bank info. Last time ebay had one of my bank accounts, half.com attached my checking account to someone else's half.com seller account and I was getting weird deposits and withdraws. So I was already nervous about submitting my bank info again.
Seller manager wasn't working last time I had it. Ebay kept telling me my info wasn't available. Wonder how bad the bugs will get this time.
