Question
This, from eBay's Unpaid Item Dispute page, just irritates the cr*p outta me. Grrrrrrr!
o If the buyer confirms the seller's statement about mutual agreement not to complete the transaction, the buyer will not receive an Unpaid Item strike and the seller will receive a Final Value Fee credit.
o If the buyer disagrees with the seller's statement on mutual agreement, the buyer will not receive an Unpaid Item strike and the seller will not receive a Final Value Fee credit. The dispute will be closed immediately after the buyer responds and the seller will not be eligible to re-file an Unpaid Item dispute for that transaction.
I have a buyer that paid via PayPal but he doesn't have a confirmed shipping address. I want to be a nice guy and file a mutual agreement not to complete the transaction, and here's what will happen:
1) I get the buyer to agree to the mutual agreement not to complete the deal.
2) I file the Item Dispute.
3) The buyer changes his mind and doesn't agree when they ask him and he STILL doesn't get an Unpaid Item Strike on his record.
4) I loose my Final Value fees and cannot re-file for them.
Now is this just stupid or am I missing something? This system forces me to file an unpaid item dispute which will assure me of a negative feedback. Why does the buyer have the hammer here?!
Answer
It's incredibly stupid and incredibly unfair. That's why I will NEVER do a mutually agreed choice, hard lesson.
Was paypal your only payment method? If not it was your buyer's decision to not pay you, not a mutual decision
Answer
Nope I also accept money order but the buyer misspelled the address on his PP account and believes his address is confirmed even though PP says different. He says he's tried to contact them without luck. He also believes because his account is verified his address is automatically confirmed. I don't know if that's true, but it shows as unconfirmed on the payment. I even sent a screen-print of the PP page showing this. Buyer is uncommunicative, (is that a word?), and unhappy I'm sure. Maybe justly so but that doesn't help me.
For the life of me I can't understand eBay's thinking on this one.
Answer
I THINK(it hurts lol) that the user has to have a credit card on file to confirm his addy. His account is "verified" if he has a checking account tied to the pp account.

Well it irritates me that eBay always assumes the seller is a crook and gives the buyers all the leverage. I realise I'm beating a dead horse but it still helps to vent.
I've maintained since I started selling on eBay 7 years ago the buyer is NOT always right, and something should be done to remedy this situation.
I lean over backwards to be fair to my buyers and this type of thing makes me wonder why.
Maybe it will look brighter in the morning?
Sigh.
