let's B!tch about ebay

Question
OK, let's classify it more as constructive criticsm.... http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
I don't like the new layout on the sign in page, now not only am I constantly signing in, but I have to scroll down to get to the password box....all because we goota have links for the "NEW sellers" and selling tips at the top of the sign in box, EBAY, buy a frigging clue.
I don't like whatever is causing me to get page not found errors on sign in, followed by "internal error" when I hit refresh
this only happens sporadically and I can't get it isolated as to what is causing it.
I have a bunch of store sales pages that are showing no buyers information, it looks like the item never sold, even now if I go print it, no buys info on it.... sure don't like that layout.
I am not sure I like this cross promotion thing yet, I haven't seen an increase in multiple bidders.
I'll be back to read your additions.
what is ebays thoughts with cluttering up the pages with all these links...

gabs,
the stores board has several discussions about store items not ending when bined, that may be the reason for no buyer info?
I don't have to scroll for the ebay sign in pages but I have my monitor set to 1024 and it's a 17 inch, maybe that's the reason.
Now for my gripes http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
Get the search engine fixed, 99% of my customers find my items by search, 75% are finding it with search of t & D. Without their search engine, ebay is just another yahoo auction site for me (not worth a darned cent).
Fix the store glitches, read the ebay store boards, there are sellers cancelling their stores because it's taking too much time to do what they pay YOU to do (having to manually cancel auctions for multiple reasons including dissapearing, being bought but not shown as bought and magically relisting themselves).
why implement something that doesn't work? One of the new features of the stores is the ability to send a feed to froogle and yet froogle says you won't let them have access to verify the feeds. Does anyone in the stores development team have even a high school diploma?
oh forget all of that, my biggest beef still is get your site running consistently, keep it running, keep the search engine running ALL OF THE TIME or at least 99% of the time, index the items in an efficient manner and I can live with just about anything else being down. I can dream can't I?

I hadn't listed since August and I could feel the rust creaking as I got the Xmas crap out there. Still, I've cleared out a couple grand of stuff so I will give EBAY a thumbs up for now.
I did have a bunch of auctions cancelled on me though. I suspect it is the old business partners at work once again. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif

My whole opinion is that eBay will continue trying to shove 10# of sh*t into a 7# bag until the whole thing just PUKES for an entire day or two. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif
As much as I don't ever want to see it happen; I really think it is going to take a meltdown to get the dumbazzes to realize that they have already overloaded the system and are playing Russian Roulette with FIVE shells in the chamber! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif
They really NEED a total freeze on changes, improvements, enhancements, additions, deletions, security 'upgrades', and "gee, I bet THIS would look cute" ideas for about six months and CONCENTRATE on fixing all the things they have "fixed" the past couple of months! http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_razz.gif

BIG LOSERS!
#1-After auction ends/BIN, going back to print the page and having a HUGE CHUNK of the top 1/2 taken up with photos of other crap....I mean items...the seller is selling. I'm NOT interested!!!! (what's the point of having the link if it's all going to be tossed up in my face anyways?)
#2-Having to sign in over and over and over again to do ANYTHING! Once is enough already!!!

Answer
sales are ok mike, but not what they should be considering
I am so glad I took mel up on the challenge of that store, it is riding us through this tough time, I do more in store sales than I am in bids these days, so it is all working out.
kathleen, are you saying as a bidder you don't like that promo thing?
maybe we need to do a poll over there
Ken, I think they need to freeze all changes as well, but don't think I am against change, I love change...WHEN and IF it works bfor the betterment of the whole plan.
If I can see where one segment will benefit from a change, then I can usually live with it but lately their changes are only making ebay DIFFERENT not BETTER in any way....
and that I see no use for.

Here I was thinking I had messed up my 'puter, somehow, having to log in over and over. Would it be silly to wonder if buyers are having the same problem??

Well, they've done it before, right? does anyone else remember in 97 (and I dont' remember how long it lasted) that you could only post 10 items an hour I believe it was, then you couldn't post anything else until the top of the hour. They couldn't handle the traffic.
About a year or so later, Skippy was on the Q & A board and mentioned they were running the entire site on 4 pentium processor computers and were going to buy sun servers. I believe part of being there was to prepare people for the mess of transferring everything over.
ebay consistently throughout their history has not been able to keep up technically with their growth. In the beginning that might have been understandable but post IPO with the kind of bucks these ppl are raking in, there is no excuse at all. I remember Skippy saying oh these new servers (I think two) were going to cost a million dollars each. That's what, a weeks pay to Meg? Get off the wallet and shill out some money, Meg.
