Question
Ok, so yesterday I'm at a net cafe I use often checking my email.
I have a 'ask seller a question" email, read it and click the big yellow button to respond.
Up pops ebays sign in page with the info seller name (not mine) and password filled in!
So, ahh, being kinda courious (sp?) I sign in.
Bingo I'm in this guys account! I'm in his "my ebay" see what he's watching, bidding, selling EVERYTHING.
So. I very quickly open another window, go to ebay's sign in page and there it all is again. I delete it and enter my screen name.
Thank you buddha krishna and all those other gods my password was not stored.
OK, long story short.
On this on computer in this cafe (windows) after you signed in the was a little and I do mean little, swimming in cold water little if you know what I mean pop up window that ask if you wanted the 'puter to remember your sign in info. Of course "yes" was highlighted.
I figured the guy didn't notice it and clicked enter. Thus saving his password on the net cafe puter.
So.
I signed in again, his name/password comes up, but I retype in a buncha #'s as the password. I get the pop up asking if I wanted to remember blah blah blah. I enter "yes".
Go to sign in again, can't 'cuz the password is wrong.
I'd email the guy and let him know about it but now I'm on my home 'puter and ebay is acting snotty, won't let me sign in.
Remember, no good deed goes unpunished.
Answer
Seeing that ebay is having problems signing in securely, it might be a good deed to let him know about the glitch. Hey no good deed goes unpunished? Why would anyone want to be punished for doing a good deed anyways? It never made sense then as a kid nor now, still as a kid.
Answer
What I mean is that I prevented people from easly hacking his ebay account.
Good deed.
Now I can't sign into my account.
Punishment.
I don't want to be punished...well there was this time.... I dated a girl that was heavely into leather but that's a diffrent story and this is a family forum.

Answer
It's a wide spread problem on eBay at this time. Just guessing but ti may have something with a security hole in the script updates, MAC and PC are affected.
Answer

Answer
And folks wounder why their accounts get hacked. ROTFLMAO thanks for the note on a fool.
You should have unchecked the box, and then cleared the cookies from the computer.
As for the sighn in problem, ebay has been having problems for a few days. Seems while sighned in you can get to other acounts.
Answer
That's what you did to fix the problem?
In MISE: go to tools -> internet options -> content -> personal content -> autocomplete -> uncheck the username/password on forms and the subsequent box under that prompt me to save passwords
That will keep this from happening again on that computer (unless some idiot turns it on)
And then keep in mind that you can remove username/passwords from the list by simply hitting delete as they come up.
I would advise anyone who uses public computers, such as those, to verify that those settings are turned off BEFORE they go anywhere on the computers. Most likely others won't think to turn it on.. Learned along time ago that sometimes you have to think/act (ie: technology, etc) for the masses because they're simply incapable of doing it themselves.
Answer
There are threads on just about every eBay board about the sign-in problems that have been occurring since about Thursday last week.
It seems that there is some kind of cookie/database foulup. Security wise it's a nightmare. People are able to get into others myeBay and sell or bid. The problem seems to also have spread at least a bit to PP too.
Most of the people reporting the error have been using IE, tho some used Opera and MACs have seen it too. Most people using Mozilla/Firefox have not noticed the problem that I've seen. I myself use Mozilla and have not had someone else's name pop-up in my sign-in YET.
Right now the best thing is to monitor your user ID from the advanced search function. Check to see if you are buying or selling anything odd.
Cases have been reported of people placing bids and when it comes up a dif ID is there. While eBay has been trying to deny they have a problem and say it's all on your computer, it's not on your computer but on theirs.
Right now I have more in my PP account than I've had in a long time and I don't like that it could be vulnerable. So this afternoon I will be going on a shopping spree with my PP debit card. It will be for stuff I was going to get anyway, just not quite now.
