Question
I decided to put a custom message on my store pages that we will not be shipping some items between the 22nd and 01/02 and thought I had done it right.
I turned on the vacation feature and chose the custom message feature using my own HTML. I thought everything was OK, and when I previewed it it looked fine to me. I 'saved' my work and went to check how it looked live and I don't see anything at all.
Could there be something I missed? Something I needed to select and didn't?
Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to get this working within the next couple of days.
Thanks all.
Answer
I don't see it on your page either.
Is it set to activate when you go on 'vacation' or only to display on the days mentioned?
(just some ideas...I don't have a store and so don't know how those things work)

Answer
Make sure you checked the activate store settings thingee to ON at the top of the page. It's easy to miss.
Answer
Hmmmm Goodworks1 did give me an idea. I wonder if I need to specify dates, because I didn't do that. I just thought it would insert the message at the top of the pages.
I did switch the vacation thingy to 'ON', though, so that's not it.
I'm off to try to insert the dates.
Answer
Well, that didn't do it. If I had chosen the option to use the dates it would have inserted a standard vacation message and not my own message.
If I remember, I will have to call eBay tomorrow and see if they can help.
But I have the grandkids coming to spend the night tomorrow and will be busy getting the dog hair off everything and kid proofing the whole house. DD can't go shopping for them with them in tow.
Wish me luck with ebay tomorrow. I'm sure I'll need it.
Answer
I think you need to have three things (and only 3 things) checked. 1."Turn vacation settings on at the top of the page." 2."Display vacation message near the top of every page in my store." 3."Custom message (enter text or HTML below)." Then click on Save Settings. If that doesn't work I have no ideas (gg). Maryanne
Answer
Thanks Maryanne. Those were the three things I had checked. Just those and still it didn't work. So today I called eBay help and got great help with only about 5 minutes of hold time.
I got a guy that actually spoke English as a first language and he understood the problem immediately. And he, too, said that I had done everything right and couldn't understand why my message wasn't showing up.
He put me on hold again for a brief time and when he came back he had me go to the 'view my store' link and try to view a store page as if I were a new customer. BINGO! It worked and there was my message big and bold.
He said it was a matter of refreshing the page or something. And that it could be something to do with my bookmark. Heck, I don't know what it was and neither does he for sure. He said he clicked on save settings again and, poof, there ya go.
Now I'm a happy camper.

Ah, the mysteries of computer coding. Glad it's working now! Maryanne
