Auction Seller Burn-out

Question
After hearing the depressing news about Ebay's spotty indexing, and my items receiving just 4 bids in the past 2 weeks, I'm just about burnt out with selling. I've sold more from Amazon and Half.com than from Ebay or SellYourItem lately.
I opened up an account with 1and1.com, but the instructions just seem beyond me.
I haven't listed in the past week, because I just feel like it's useless.
Is there any way to get myself going again, or should I just let it ride for a while?

Answer
I've found myself in a similar funk lately. The good thing is my web site (with scrubbies and kits and fabric) has been getting more action and my books are selling steadily on other sites, so I'm still working on those. But I've essentially quit listing on ebay for the last month or two.
I'll be interested in what others have to say!
Best of luck to you!

I have been selling since 1999 and love it and have never grown tired....... but I do this as a hobby and not a business. I always say when it ceases to be fun I will be out of here.
Wishing you the best of luck in what ever you decide.

If you post your url to your website we can see what needs done. Remember we all had skimpy websites when we started. Here is the url to mine and I'm just starting on 1+1 will work on it after the holidays my current websites are keeping me busy right now.

I think I just don't understand their terminology for things. I understand directories and subdirectories, they're talking domains and subdomains.

I am in a similar funk. The things I thought would sell well have been skunks and the things I thought were not-so-hot have been good sellers. I plan on taking a break soon, if only for a week.
It is not just the eBay stuff that is getting to me. It is the entire business.
I spent the past month cleaning out the garage, trying to get organized. We decided to close one mall booth and move that inventory into our other mall booth location. It doesn't fit! http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif Who would have thought I had that much stuff? I ended up bringing tubs of inventory back to the garage and I'm now back to where I was a month ago. The good news is that it already is priced, the bad news is that I have inventory sitting idle and idle inventory isn't making me any money.
I am tempted to call an auction house and see if they can take some boxes for me. I've never done that before but I'm thinking it might be the only way to go.

big whoopie lady
it means you will never run out of ebay inventory
it means you can take time off form stocking your booth in January and February and concentrate on ebay
it means stop fussing, its Christmas time, enjoy your family and friends, the crapola will still be there in a the new year http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
and if it is anything like mine it will have reproduced and doubled.

Hi
I usually get online auction burnout in the spring, just in time for when the flea market starts back up again. Then in the fall, I am getting burnout from the flea market, and it's time to do sales online again http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
I keep trying different things. I have took stuff to auctions but am not so keen on that, because it all depends on the auction house/auctioneer, and how they do things.
I have 2 consignment shops near me, and I like taking things to them. Their cut is 50%. One is volunteer, other is privately owned. I am doing the best by taking inventory to the one privately owned and selling things outright. I give her the best deal that I can this way, and am moving things out that I have not done well either online or at the show with.
I think the online market has just changed so much, that we get frustrated when things don't sell that should, or we think should sell.
Right now I am helping a lady do estate sales, and using it as a learning experience. I also hope to buy some things for resale to offset the low wage she is paying me. So far it's not been quite 2 wks, and it's been a lot of wear and tear on my truck and using a lot of gas. It either has to get better soon, or I won't be helping her.
I don't have a lot of nicer stuff to put online at the given moment. I do have quite a bit that does better at the show.
Every time I get burnout, I go and research selling patterns, for what I have here. It helps me to get going again.
I have my fingers crossed for a *real* FLD from ebay, later this month. So that is helping me stay motivated to get some pictures took, descriptions wrote for some serious listing.
Maybe schedule your day different, and work online auctions for a set amount of hours. Then so many hrs, do some sorting out of things, to move out in different ways.....thrift shops, real life auctions, consignment shops, garage sale, and flea markets.
For the *stale* stuff around here, I am liking the fast nickel over the slow dime http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
