Question
I think everyone has seen this before. You run a search for something on Google and the search results contain multiple links to eBay affiliate spam pages that then bounce you back to eBay. Many of the listing are old, duplicates or stolen from other sites. It's a real mess.
I started to tally these eBay affiliate pages on Google and found over 2 million of them so far.
I've decided to turn it into a new sport, SPOOGLING. If you find some of these eBay affiliate spam pages on Google, feel free to post them to http://www.spoogling.com
Answer
Web link not working.
Is there still a Louis Sherry Ice Cream store in Garden City?
55 plus years ago my mother would drive me from St. Albans, through the potato fields, to GC for shopping at Best & Co.
I would only go if it included time at the marble topped soda fountain counter at LS.
Answer
Why does your link lead to AuctionBytes.com?

THe link should be working, just tested it.
We've got a Baskin Robins but no Louis Sherry. I wish we did have something other than the usual Ice Cream chain. Also the potato fields are long gone. Souinds like it was nice :-)

I bought the URL a few days ago. Needed someplace to point it to and thought that the spoogling thread would be appropriate and allow people to post comments as well. It's been rather active and people seem to like the name :-)

I noticed this some weeks ago; almost every search I was doing for a particular item took me back to some ebays pages, via quikserv.net or clickthru.net or somesuch. Whoever the click-through is, I have them in my HOSTS file and blocked, and so I don't even get to the ebay pages.
At any rate, I was so aggravated that I wrote Google and complained. If I just wanted to do ebay searches, I would just do ebay searches....
I can't remember what Google's reply was, something to the effect that it shouldn't be happening, and they were aware, etc.... and they were in the middle of changing the way searches were complied.... it was, and remains, a sad state of affairs....
I get spoogled now daily, and I do not like it at all.

This is a quote from Google Guy who posts on Auction Bytes. He's wanting help watching this jerk and has explained how we can do our part:

quote:
We just completed an iteration that took out a lot of that one spammer that erthlng and others mentioned. If people see this particular spammer try to start a new site, would you do a spam report at Google with a special keyword? So if you see urls from this particular spammer, I'd like folks to fill out a report at http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html and use the keyword "mbspammer". Then I'll ask someone to periodically scan the reports for the mbspammer so that we can keep an eye on him. That way even if I don't get to stop by here for a while, there's an easy way that you can get information to me about that spam.

Man, this makes me feel good.
