Question
I get an email...title: eBay wants your Opinion: Earn $5
Looks legit, but they all do. Has clickable links. HA, I don't think so!
I check My eBay page messages...nothing, so I forward it to spoof at ebay.com and delete it.
Then I get this:
Hello,
The survey you received is endorsed by eBay. We regularly send surveys
to eBay users and endorse several companies to administer surveys on our
behalf. We are very interested in hearing what our members have to say
and encourage you to provide us feedback by taking a moment to fill out
the survey.
You are under no obligation to participate in this survey. In addition,
you may opt out of receiving these surveys by changing your notification
preferences in "My eBay."
We apologize for any confusion this message may have created for you and
we appreciate your efforts to keep eBay a safe trading place.
Regards,
Ralph

This really ticked me off...I sent back "Then perhaps you should send the request for this survey thru the EBAY MESSAGE SYSTEM....just like everyone else has to."
That wasn't enough...then I had to come here and vent...lol
OK..off to get my $5 from eBay!! (thank goodness the forwarded email was still in my sent box!)
Answer
I've given my opinions to them for free ... lots of times ... but they still didn't listen!
Answer
Lots of "lets pretend you get an email from us saying...." we've upgraded, revamped, added, made it easier for you...blah blah blah.....all ending with "we may need to make changes to our current seller pricing structure, but we will keep you informed in advance of any such changes."
"How do you feel about this?" Do you believe the statement?, will it make you more or less likely to sell?
and then this one:
"When eBay makes major changes, such as price changes, which would be the best way to communicate changes to you? "
I would have copy 'n pasted the questions...but they had that ability disabled!
This survey left me with a bad, bad feeling.....

Chuckle. Yeah, I've given them mine too especially when I couldn't list for a week around this time last year. eBay had flagged one of my selling accounts and wouldn't let me list even though I had a valid monthly direct debit from my bank account (since 2001).
Turned out eBay has this database error dating back to 2002-3 that randomly causes seller accounts to be flagged as non-performing or non-paying. Of course a manual check would have confirmed no such problem existed, but that would have cost more money. Anyway it's bitten many sellers in the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Australia over the years, and even now I still see the occasional report in eBay's technical forum from a group of affected sellers on one of the eBay sites. I'll probably surface this Xmas selling season when eBay decides to yet again launch "improvements to the eBay interface"... Chuckle.
