Question
Can someone confirm for me that using an M-bag is the cheapest way to ship a bunch of printed matter (around 50lbs) to Canada? I'm shipping magazines, and there doesn't seem to be a prohibition against that from what I read on the USPS website, but I haven't pored through the Domestic Mail Manual.
Thanks for any advice
Christine
Answer
Cheapest way would be M bag.
M bag is up to 66 # in 1 bag.
I am trying to do a answer to a bidder from Canada myself today.
I told her I can send up to 11 pounds for $ 11.00
Each additional pound would be $ 1.00
Quote is for economy surface , up to 6 weeks.
I just did the fiquring for some books I sent to Austrailia.
M bag would have been up to 11 pounds for $ 11
I ended up sending hers for $ 6 because it only weighed 2 pounds.
I just did a search on google for m bag Canada.
I have been searching on the www.usps.com site, and around
and around I go....cannot find my answer for m bag to Canada.
I just want to see it, on a website page that I can keep referring to.

Canada have a lower M-Bag rate. Starts at $8.80 for 11lbs, not $11.
To get rate quote, just go to International section of the USPS calculator and look for volume discount mailing.

Thank you both for the information
Will get it all checked out.
I don't do many auctions in the summer, so when fall comes and I put a few back up, I need a good refresher course in a few things.

are m bags only available from the US or can we get them here to send there.

Hi Gabs - where have you been hiding?
M-Bags is the equivalent to book rate. When the USPS got rid of international book rate, they left us with M-Bags. My guess is M-Bags are only USPS. But you can ask the Canadian postal service and see if there is such a class of mail.
