Submitting college applications online...

Question
DD is submitting college applications this week, and is trying to do as many online as she can. We figured that as long as the sites are secure, it's as safe as putting her identity information into the mail.
So far, they've all had the little padlock on the webform, except for this one, Franklin Pierce in NH.

I called the school and the IT person was not in the office today. Anybody know if a website can be secure if the padlock isn't there? Is there another way to tell if a site is secure?
Anybody else come close to infantiswat while going through this process?

Answer

I think it's a requirement.
That way you are really ready to have them gone when the time comes....

Answer

That's exactly how I felt by last night! Just when we were getting done with all the forms, etc for one school, she says "Y'know, I'm not so sure I want to go to this school anyway. It's kind of far away.... "
I almost said something, but an angel was sitting on my shoulder and slapped it's hand over my mouth in the nick of time.
