New change to eBay again.

Question
I just found out 1 minute ago that in every listing now you have:
"Similar items from all sellers"
What do you guys think about this?

Answer
You can opt out of this under Preferences in MyEbay. I opted out.

Answer
You can opt-out.
Instructions were in the announcement. See Message area of your My eBay.
I want potential buyers who find my closed listings from searches on eBay or through search engines to see MY other items. Thanks but no thanks, eBay.

Answer
I'm reading the PS forums right now about this.
it's still not letting me opt out.
I figure, eventhough this is a double edge sword, I thin it's more of a disadvantage for sellers. Since buyers can just click on the store icon or other listing icon.
F****en eBay...

Answer
Several new sellers are attempting to break into my niche by offering similar or the same items I sell, at cost.
I price for a fair profit. Four or five others have tried this before, failed and left the market.
The last thing I want to do is encourage profitless pricing which might help eBay's "everything is cheap" approach but drives good, well run businesses out of the marketplace.
This might increase short term profits (fees) for eBay but leaves me running at a loss.
With a business partner like that, who even needs to worry about competitors.
But I expect the eBay staff reports and charts that explain how this is a good idea are wonderful.
When eBay starts showing current live listings on Amazon, YAHOO and elsewhere on the web to help the customer "find good deals", I'll reconsider.

Answer
Where is the preference setting under myeBay?
If one opts out, does this mean eBay will also not show one's item on other sellers' pages?

Answer
it's under:
Promoting Similar Items on eBay Pages and Emails Show
Promote your items in emails and on item pages.
my settings in there are:
No
No
Manually
Yes in all areas
no

Answer
Reston, do you use or would recommend auctiva?
I signed up to check it out and it immediately enabled U-Pic for me which I don't want to even use at all.
I'm mainly interested in the Free Scheduling and Free unlimited Image hosting it offers

Answer
I think this will work (with eBay who ever knows)
Go to My eBay.
Click on Preferences on lower left.
Page opens to "Selling preferences" Go to the fourth down "Promoting Similar Items on eBay Pages and Emails " Click on "Show" to the right of that title.
That will open that section up. Then click on "edit" on the right.
You might be asked to sign in again.
You will see four boxes, all checked.
Unckeck each box.
Hit "save"
I think that takes care of the issue. (But with eBay who ever knows)
If this is not correct please add your comments so that we can all help each other.

Answer
This issue is being discussed , mid great confusion about the opt out procedure, on the Store Board.
It will be interesting to see what the reaction is in coming weeks as more sellers being to realize what is happening.
Below is my most recent contribution to the discussion.

First eBay promises no changes during the busy season.
Then they add this "enhancement"
Then they opt everyone in.
Then they make the opt out so confusing that experienced users are uncertain of what actually needs to be done to not have items from other sellers shown on our pages.
Then they wonder why some sellers, myself included, feel contempt for the management and laugh every time Meg mouths the word "community".
I wonder when the PDR will start showing "abused seller syndrome" as a treatable illness.
If they want respect, why don't they start showing it to us?
Respect is something you earn, not something you can demand.
I think you need to uncheck all four box to keep other seller's items off your pages and that action will not effect your own items being shown.
