Obligated to pay NARU seller????

Question
I won an auction yesterday...Going to pay today and find an eBay "note" in My eBay that "Seller is no longer a registered user"...check further all their auctions are gone, and their ID is "No longer a registered user"....
Am I obligated to pay for this auction item????...
(I certainly don't want to, BUT, I don't want eBay trouble either)
TIA

Answer
Nope! Once an eBayer has gone NARU, you're no longer obligated to do business with them.

Answer
Thanx moonie!....
I didn't think so, but wanted to make sure.....

Answer
I was trying to find the actual wording on eBay, but can't seem to locate it. The closest I've found so far is:
"Not a registered user" can refer to members who have cancelled their membership, or whose membership has been suspended by eBay. For example, a member whose correct contact information is no longer on file with us may have their registration suspended until the new contact information is entered. In either case, the member appears as "not a registered user" and is not allowed to buy or sell on eBay. From here.
Will post again if I find anything more specific, but an unregistered user can't leave feedback, can't file a non-paying bidder alert, or anything else.

Answer
If it's something you really want, I'd wait a bit and find out why they were NARU'D. Contact info-as in, they moved and forgot to change it? Displaced hurricane seller? Trigger happy jackazz at ebay that had a bad day or couldn't read? Or was the feedback getting bad and completing the transaction would be foolhardy? ETC.

Answer
you should get an email from eBay soon saying that the sale was cancelled, that the person is NARU'd and that there is no obligation, yada, yada, yada!!!
I am very familiar with these emails because a few years ago an eBay buddy of my got NARU'd because eBay billed her several times for monthly fees (to the tune of over $1000), refused to correct their mistake, were real spud heads (I am being nice) about the whole thing, they then NARU'd her at Christmas time for "non-payment of fees." I had bought several items from her a few weeks before so I got many of the "this sale is null and void," emails. (I was REALLY ticked because a few months before they had billed my mother 27 times on her fees and maxed out her credit card. They REFUSED to give her a refund, just credit toward her eBay fees. It was fortunate that my mother's cc was only used to pay for eBay and that she had a rather high limit on the card. Although the interest was awful!)
So when I got all of those, this auction is "nulll and void" or whatever terms they use emails...I sent every last one of them to spoof*ebay telling them that I was sure that they were spam because all the auctions I had bid on were paid for and had been delivered. Well, it really p*ssed eBay and they wrote me some pretty nasty emails threatening to NARU me.
So, don't think that every NARU is deserved...it isn't but once a NARU occurs...the sale is considered history and you are not obligated to pay.

I've seen NARU'd sellers become active members again within days. One seller told me that it was because his credit card expired and he hadn't given eBay a new number.

...my mother is a real fireball...no question about it...she did not take it lying down but didn't do the chargeback because she was afraid of eBay shutting her down. That is how she makes her living. I do know that she raised 10 kinds of sand other than that!

The NARU question does raise interesting follow up questions. Since NARU'd sales receive these "not obligated to complete the sale" notices, then are all NARU sales automatically cancelled? And more importantly, when the NARU'ed buyer or seller reinstates themselves by updating their credit card on file, or pays their bill, or updates their phone number, or etc. is the now-cancelled sale then un-cancelled and now valid again?
I hope I know the answers. I'd think all NARU sales are automatically cancelled and I'd hope that once a sale is NARU cancelled, it is cancelled, period.
