Answer
There is a thread over on the Store board. A provider of goods came there in frustration, confusing Drop Off Stores and eBay Stores.
He and many others had supplied high end goods which sold but they were never paid and the DDO Store is closed.
10 million dollars divided by 81 Stores is $123,457. Not all have been opened for all 31 months but even an average of 15 months is $8,230. average sales per month. At 30% consignment fee that equals a monthly gross income before expenses of $2,468.

Some suggest the needed monthly gross sales need to be over $30,000.
10 million dollars is an impressive number but I expect everyone except those promoting the stores are losing money.

We had one open here recently. I brought something in to them that I had sitting here for months, never getting motivated to list it myself. It was also bulky and delicate and would be a pain to ship. I was happy to give them the 30% to do it for me, and it wound up selling for a decent price.
I watched the business, though, while I was there, and can't imagine how they can possibly be making money. They had a lot of old people coming in trying to have them sell $5 items, or thinking their treasures were worth tons when the market was glutted with them. Their rent must be pretty high (right next to a Publix) and the owner seemed overwhelmed with all he had to do. Certainly not for me, but as long as someone else is willing to sell the items I just don't want to deal with, I'll be glad to clear some stuff out of here.
